Dedicated Mono Vinyl Replay : What Would Be Your Particular Weapons Of Choice ?

Regarding listening to mono with one vs two speakers, I am surprised no one has mentioned the reduced level of bass when listening with just one speaker.

To what reference?
The reference is simply one full-range speaker compared to a pair. In my stereo system, I use a pair of mono amps. When I am powering down my system, I sometimes start by turning off one of the amps while music is still playing, usually with streaming, and I am always struck by how the sound from the remaining speaker is thinner and lighter sounding compared to when both speakers are playing.

Ah, ok, understood, but I´d rather see this effect beeing linked to room interaction with your speakers and not with mono in itself and as such.

If you cut one amp/ speaker out, you have to double the volume on the remaining ones for a fair comparison.

Now I regret selling my SP15 many years ago.

The collection is impressive. It is hard to find these old 78s in good condition. I was shocked when I first played a 78 in my system. I have ordered a few since - two broke during shipment :(

Here is one I actually received today, that I ordered out of curiosity. It needs to be cleaned, and I did not check the EQ curve. It is not the original (which dates from 1938) but a French pressing from the early 1950s, from what I gather. It is fun to play these things!

I use a 78 cartridge, which I purchased anticipating that I would enjoy collecting a few more 78s :)
