Zellaton and my ascent to Soulution

2 weeks and crickets....
No posts from anyone regarding 717's.....seems very strange

Perhaps someone is too busy enjoying it rather than to spend time online discussing it? ;)

Our demo unit is incoming within 1-2 weeks. Can’t wait, where I would be happy to report back in due time.

Not sure what’s going on, by now I’d have expected lots of comments
Unfortunately, sometimes the timing of real world does not cooperate with my audio passion. I had unchangeable travel over the last few weeks – Galápagos Islands and Machu Picchu. When the dust settles and I am caught up, I plan on a lot of listening. However, in the short listening time that I've had with the 717s, they are absolutely outstanding and have exceeded my expectations.

No one has 717s …it is becoming an exercise in tolerance !

It is highly unlikely you ll get any sort of meaningful criticism from owners of such gear, or from a reviewer. Everyone's system & sound preferences, and hearing are different. If you are willing to spend that much coin on these amps, I suggest you arrange for a week, or two, home trial demo for a "reasonable" fee, instead of buying blind. Also, posting the details of your system would be helpful, if you seek suggestions.

+1

There is no substitute for a relaxed (meaning a week or two weeks; not an afternoon or one or two days) in-home audition in your own system. Agreeing to pay for shipping one way or both ways, as well as possibly to pay a home demo fee, is money extremely well spent.

What do you consider to be a reasonable home demo fee for a 100k amplifier during an weekend?
IMO this all depends on the relationship you have with your dealer.

When I demoed my Solution 727, I paid in full. The deal I had in place was 2 weeks with the unit. If I didn't like it I would give him $1000.00 plus he delivered it, for his troubles. He did get a great meal and some nice wine. It turned out to be an easy decision. I knew in the first 10 minutes.

Whenever you can listen to a piece in your system it is so valuable and takes that uncertainty variable out of the equation...Worth every penny...
