Why do some threads blow up on other sites but not here

I've noticed this a lot. Some threads on other sites will totally blow up on other sites and do nothing here. Sometimes they even post the wording verbatim. My only answer would be people have already seen it on other sites and just don't want to bother commenting. What do you think?

It's a function of proper moderation...in my view.

I very rarely see the mods having to do anything around here. Perhaps it is because I stay away from all the usual hot spot threads. It amazes me that people have the energy to keep debating the same bloody things over and over again until they are well into their 60's.

you would be surprised as to the number of OT posts we delete as well as those that are argumentative, trolling or flaming

Believe it or not Keith but every post is read by the admin team

Several members have been warned re the nature of their posts and some have had temporary or permanent bans imposed

I can attest to that.

But! Some posts are preserved, for posterity or whatever. :b

It's the job of the admin team to do "clean-up" duties in the background, so that it doesn't disrupt the function of the site as much as possible. If it weren't for the admin team, WBF would be a huge clearinghouse for online streaming, foreign brides, real estate, and too many other spammers to count. The membership sees very little of all that, as it should be.

I can't play my massive collection of uber-expenxive vintage guitars and chase my 25-year-old trophy wife around the mansion all day long. Man's gotta have hobbies.

Are you about to post one of those "power cords can't possibly do anything posts?" :D

It's the same people that will attack. Sort of a re-education camp for wayward audiophiles.

Yeah, most people post the same thing over and over again expecting a different result/answer!

Some debate until they are deaf.

The average age of WBF members is substantially higher than other fora. It stands to reason that "maturity" plays a factor.
