Why do some threads blow up on other sites but not here

It's like have you read every thread here since the site opened? Take a look at some of the threads that were locked and closed. Unfortunately your hypothesis fits under parochial territory.

A little while back, I was being flamed to death on another forum:(. The reason being that on the forum in question, there are a number of people with VERY closed minds who do not like anything upsetting their status quo. The thread that I started is now on its 18th page and the mud slinging is still ongoing! I left the thread and the forum days ago, yet the arguing and bickering still continue on this subject... why, because these same people are happy to throw mud and argue irrationally just for the heck of it and the mods are very weak. Luckily over here, the forum is controlled and flaming/ personal attacks are not tolerated as much.

How about posting a link to your flame war? I would like to read it.
