What's your Internet speed?

---- How much for a one way plane ticket to Sweden? ...From Vancouver, Canada.

If you live in Canada you don´t want to move to Sweden...even if we have good internet speed. :b Canada is a great country!

Here is a speed test from another guy using the same supplier that will install my fiber (Ownit) in march. The speed test is done with a swedish version of Speedtest.net ( www.bredbandskollen.se ) but I think you can read the most important parts. (Download = "Ta emot filer" and Upload="Skicka filer").

942/726? That's disgusting!

I never heard of speeds like that. Sure wouldn't take long to download a music file (or a movie).

You have Gigabit/sec speed at home??? to the Internet???

Yes, it is rather common in Sweden. 100mb/s is almost standard now in the cities and 1 gb/s is growing. And it is low prices...with the right sources I can download a full bluray in a few minutes (but I never do that of course). I have two 1080 TV:s and a 1080 projector and the PS3 and xbox with LIVE. With this kind of speed the whole family can enjoy HD-streaming movies and series on every single unit and playing online and more...and never reach the limit.

Ok! I am officially moving there ... What are the formalities? :D

hey, at least I'm looking like the slowest...LOL

No my friend! Don't steal my thunder :)

Right today in Haiti

1.99 Mb/s Download
0.49 Mb/s Upload

To be fair this is an increase from last year ... Double the download speed for $50/month ...

good god, I'm moving to Sweden, or wherever I can get Gigabit to the net.

Here in the North Georgia mountains, with my rural POS telco (Windstream), I'm lucky to have DSL, but they struggle to give reasonable service. Best I can get is 3Mbps down, 0.6 up.

If I upgrade to a business line, *maybe* can get 6 down or as high as 10 down (bonded DSL) and 2 up. But that's max on the latest DSL tech. Working on getting that next week.

I think I'm gonna cry.

And a good friend here was just jumping for joy at his new 'SOTA' fiber optic plan from our local provider which gives 'up to 8mbps' speed. I told him to check the actual speed it might just be half of it. :D This local provider stinks, as I use their services too. :D

The modus operandi of the local carriers is to sell fast connections (fiber included), and put in their contracts that, due to network congestion, backbones out of their control, bla bla bla, they only promise 10% of the contracted speed.
So you sign up for 20mb, and you do get those speeds, but only to local sites. Anything outside the country will be slow, and way below your nominal speed.
And let's not even get into the throttling, capping, etc.

You should be ashamed of yourself for posting those. I am a Comcast user and get 35 and 7 but I have not heard of their Blast Service. What is the premium to get those speeds?

Charter said they could sell me a premium service with 100 Mbps down and 25 up for $80/mo. (over twice as much as their standard 30 down for $30, but perhaps a good deal if you want it).
