What's the most recent piece of audio equipment you have purchased and when?

Peter, what’s your impression of the L1 so far?

Hello Fishfood. The L1 is excellent. I like the fact that it is one box and there is separate gain control plus a master volume control. There’s a lot of functionality with his preamp and it is a steal on the used market if you can find one.

It does not sound as good as the LL1 signature. That four box unit is the best preamplifier I’ve had in my system. The two sound very similar, but the LL1 is quieter. Both are extremely natural sounding. The bass quality is slightly more nuanced and I think extended in the LL1.

Pair of Parasound JC 1+ monoamps.. VERY happy with their sounds.

Canor Audio AI 2.10 tube hybrid amplifier and I am tickled pink, purchased from TMR in September.

Ascendo D9 full range speakers from Germany. Was able to get the last demo pair in mint condition from a distributor in the States! Just amazing sounding and looking speakers at any price, but for 14 K MSRP practically a steal, as these can compete with ANY mid size speakers at any price ! Its such a travesty this German brand is not as well known in the USA, as in Europe. Now I had heard their larger M and F series, and those sounded fantastic, however priced in the range of 30-100K, but the D9's performance level in their enclosure size &price is like "catching lighting in a bottle" type of of product, the word overachiver just does not do it proper justice, and I'm not easily impressed by dynamic driver speakers, to say the least. Been listening to them last couple of weeks, with a wide grin! Such a gem.....

Congratulations. I’ve listened to the Ascendo M speakers many times at a friend’s place. It’s a unique design and they’re very nice speakers.

just ordered an excellent condition Audio Research LS15 and some new tubes along with a used TEAC ap-701 Ncore amp to pair with it....should be a fun little setup for my poverty budget....upgrading from a schiit freyaS and the lower teac ap-505. which I really like but want more juice.

Also recently jumped into the Laserdisc world with a decent 2000 karaoke top model pioneer ...I like Japanese music. and a few LD only albums from some favorite artists.

Fortnight ago, bought used but good condition EAR834P phono stage off Ebay. I am waiting for three Select Grade Telefunken smooth plate 12AX7’s from Brent Jessee (shipped) to bring the unit up to same level as unit Kedar brought over. But even with the (Chinese or whatever) valves it came with, when set on MM and signal boosted through my (8x more expensive) Phasemation T-2000 SUTs, it sounds really good. I believe that is the setup, an Ear834P, valves rolled to NOS Telefunkens, set to MM and fed through high end SUTs. In such a configuration, these really do warrant the accolades heaped on them.

I just bought a pair of Emotiva CMX2+ DC blockers:

The large toroid transformers in my Meitner MTR-101 Plus monoblocks have always had a mechanical hum, audible from a foot away, not audible through the loudspeakers. The CMX2+ eliminated this hum entirely. Better yet, it provided a significant sonic improvement over other power delivery methods I had tried; direct connection to the wall, a Furman Elite 15 PFi, and an iFi AC iPurifier.

Initially, the sound was a bit too sharp. I'm not sure how much of this was due to break-in, but I replaced the stock AC cable with an Iconoclast 10Ga, which I know to be a very capable cable, with a warmish tone. Bass is now more robust, and I hear improved clarity from top to bottom.

I'm not sure whether I can hear any effect from the second CMX2+ on the Crown XLi 1500 driving my subwoofers, but at the very least it is providing surge protection. The plan is to remove this one after the Christmas season and upgrade the internal components for use with the Meitners.
