What is it that you are spinning tonight?

 

Highlights of Bizet's Carmen, which features Leontyne Price. I learned about her from another thread (possibly the opera thread and a comment from FrantzM).

 

Some Prog, I feel Procol probably started the genre.

Procol Harum Self-titled, A Salty Dog, Shine on Brightly, Broken Barricades.
Trower at times does show his stuff...the earlier lp's are certainly Fisher driven.

Talkin' 'bout the Irish Rovers; I was in Victoria last Tuesday with Will Millar, the lead singer.
He did give two interviews at an Art Gallery where his paintings are exposed.
He even played some whistle flute and did some dancing.

Will's a very close friend. He lives right next to me.
I brought my harmonica but didn't play it.

Also, La Bottine Souriante (a French band from Quebec: traditional music); Yves Lambert, the lead member, he's a very close friend, and we used to play harmonicas together.

I know a lot of musicians, some very close friends; and it's in my family too.

But today I am still listening to Classical Music on the r.a.d.i.o.
That is where my heart & soul are right now,
and St. Patrick ain't dictating me to listen to Irish music. :b

But I did send an email to my good friend in Ireland, Andy, earlier this morning.
And I talked to my lovely and most beautiful niece, Ariane.
...And I communicated with my lady friend doctor from Brazil, Kate. She is an audiophile.
...Conrad-Johnson preamp, B&W 805 loudspeakers, etc. She loves violins first.
Yeah, she's into Classical music, and Operas.

I have the Kodaly Quartet Hadyn String Quartets...in fact, i think i have nearly all of Haydn's works...mainly buying the Penguin recommended versions in most cases.

 

David Gilmour - Live In Gdansk (.flac). Pretty nice, but the vinyl version (5LP set) trumps it significantly.

The Pellegrini Quartet is one of the few string quartets who have an uncanny intonation, that only the best vocal ensembles manage to achieve: they have sounds you never hear from a string quartet, highly recommended..

I have had the pleasure of listening to that on my rig as it was being unsealed. One heck of a concert, if I do say so myself. One heck of a concert!!!
