What are you doing today that is Hi-Fi related?

Going through some CD's checking out speaker placement in a new room. Built some DIY absorption panels using 1x4, 1x2 Corning 2" 703 2x4" panels and some prints from Amazon. Deciding if I want to fry to tackle some bass traps.

Rob :)

Thanks!

Yes prints on fabric tapestries. Very easy to build just used the print sizes and made frames to hold the fiberglass.

Reading the online owners manual for my new Taiko Audio Extreme server which is in transit......

What are you doing today that is hi-fi related?

I'm spending my day immersed in my collection of audio tubes (only 1/3 of which are pictured here).

I need to get caught up on recent tube acquisitions that I have not integrated into my collection yet.

I'm going through each one as I carefully clean the glass, clean the pins and inspect the body of the tube.

Each box is opened with care as I log into my spreadsheet:

- Where I found it
- When I bought it
- What it cost
- Difference of mfg vs. what the brand on the tube is
- The markings, construction, any important details
- And a picture of the tube and box to accompany it on the spreadsheet for ease of reference.

It's a kind of meditation for me that I find completely relaxing and enjoy taking my time with.

And yes… I’m still have many more tubes I want to acquire.

This is 1/3rd of my tube collection:

Hi Synaxis, I haven't posted in ages but it's time to get back in this crazy game. Today, yesterday and the day before I've been trying to find a NOS pair of 5687 tubes.
My Tung-Sol' conked out after about 20 years of beautiful sound and the replacements I had just can't be found.
They will be going into V 3 and 4 in my Tron Syren original preamp .You have some outstanding stuff so I wonder if you have a pair of 5687 that you can sell me.
Many Thanks and enjoy your music

Listening to music and thinking about playing with my speaker placement, to see if I can squeeze more out of the sound I am getting. ;)

Texting my speaker guy who, due to vacation times, is a bit behind providing me prices and details. Fingers crossed he will deliver next week.

Hello! I'm sorry I don't have that tube. But you can purchase some NOS ones here: https://www.tubedepot.com/products/5687-other-us

After spending time listening in a new room I added another panel using 1" 703. Still deciding if bass traps are in the mix. Hooking up the turntable to see if I fixed the grounding issue it had. Nope not fixed but isolated to the head shell so should be an easy fix maybe?
