The Wadax SP seems like an amazing piece for the price. A server and DAC together is a big benefit.

I am not sure if you even need a server with the Studio Player I’ve compared local playback of files using my NAS (very old Synology) and the SP to Lampi plus Aurender N30SE. I expected Aurender to be a much better server compared to a basic NAS. Not with the Wadax Studio Player. The performance was very close, and in most cases I preferred WSP + NAS to Aurender + Lampi.

Agreed. I have tried using WSP + NAS (Fidata), withJPLAY as UI. To me, that is the way to go. Knowing that WSP is Roon compatible, one may of course pair it up with a Roon Server, including the Wadax Reference Server.

In my experience Wadax plays so much better with Audirvana than with Roon. The server was a headless Mac Mini.

I second the Mac mini as a server. I have found it is really close to an pretty expensive purpose built server.
My specs:
1. Mac mini M1 2020 with 512 gig SSD and 16 meg RAM
2. Headless and keyboard less. I control it via screen share to my other Mac mini (work computer).
3. Server Mac mini USB > Chord DAVE.
4. I have converted the Mac mini to run off an SBooster 12v Linear Power Supply, and removed the built in SMPS.
5. No software loaded except Lyrion Music Server, Squeezelite player, and Audirvana. Both use Qobuz and local files.
6. I have a Paul Pang Quad switch on the Ethernet side, with Final Touch Audio ethernet short cable between that and the Mac mini.
7. I use Wifi for local playback, and Ehernet for Qobuz, as I detect a small amount of noise on ethernet. I am fine tuning that. IO think I need to run the Optical router from Orange off another LPS.

I tried Roon many times over the last 5 years, and 2 months ago latest version, and it is still behind both Audirvana and Lyrion. Lyrion is better slightly than Audirvana.

TFT firmware has just been upgraded to 1.6.2

TFT Boot version remains as 1.29
SU Version remains as 62

would recommend reaching out to your local Wadax distributor. assuming you are in North America that is is Wadax USA, Branden Lauer, who is a WBF member @WADAX

you can PM him here.

many times manufacturer websites are intermittently looked at, as they are designing, building and shipping. they have guys like Brandon to respond to customers, or also your dealer to ask the questions. and in Europe August and early September many times at headquarters they are all gone on Holiday.

Certainly; the Studio Player is approximately 9.25” tall including the RevOpods.

I don't want the streamer in the Wadax Studio. I want to hear the DAC with my music server.

I know it's a CD/SACD disc player, streamer, and DAC. My point was I want to hear the Studio DAC only version when it's available with my music server.
