During the last period (a couple of years now) I have lost my passion for this hobby. But.
Over the past summer we have changed the location of our offices, bringing it into a historic building.
The right place to try the vintage HIFI way.
Luckily I was able to find a fantastic dealer https://www.audioantiquary.com
I found a couple of speakers I have been wanting since I entered the world of HIFI.
The Magneplanar Tympani IVa.
And, more than that, an incredible R2R deck...the Telefunken M15a.
Here some pictures

So now you have two? The Avalons still there?

I am embarrassed to say that: yesterday I listened to "Take Five" from the "Time out" Brubeck Quartet (1959), and then back to my home the same on my main system (or what I believed was the main system), nothing to be compared.
of course I am convinced that my main system sounds very good, but the Tympani with the M15a, bring me back to listening as the "Live" experience

Paolo, your equipment is crying out for some nice rustic wooden support tables to go with the architecture of the building!

Ah, that's really beautiful. I'd be too relaxed to get any work done.

Fantastic, Paolo! Thank you very much for posting these photos!

Do the glass windows on the front wall cause any sonic issues?

Thank you Ron.
The contribution of the surrounding environment, for this type of loudspeaker, is crucial. The very high ceiling helps a lot. I still have to understand well how the environment is acting, it is enough to move the mid / high panel by inch, the result changes a lot.
What strikes me a lot is that 30-year-old speakers are very effective and with a surprising realism effect.

I have owned the The Magneplanar Tympani IVa for a very short time - as they needed a large room they had to go in the living room and they were not compatible with family life!
This is what I posted in 2010 in a thread about Magneplanar:

(...) but one of my most memorable bass sessions was at my living/dining room with a pair of Magnepan Timpany IVa triple panels in the early 90's. They were placed at 2 meters from the back wall, and we had to move the dining table to sit. They only stayed for one weekend but their bass filled the room with a sound wave different from the bass of box speakers - it had "slam" and percussion was tense. The treble ribbons sounded fantastic, but the middle frequencies were a little reticent and only came to life at loud levels.
"Graceland" of Paul Simon never sounded the same again.

In your large high ceiling room they should sound great. I remember I found they were a bit "bipolar" - they sounded magnificent with some recordings, lousy with others.

Enjoy and try listening to Graceland on them!
