The Grid Protector, the EMI Protector and The Allocator By Schnerzinger-In My System and I’m Blown Away

yesterday I did an in-depth look at the new Reflector and today I placed an order for one Master and two Reflectors. What I find most interesting is that the Master can be plugged anywhere in the room but what really caught my attention is that the advice for placement of the Reflector is on the floor directly in front of each speaker

Thank you Jazzjunkie. I may not be in the league of “no compromise” audiophile. Given the number of power outages I experience here in North Carolina I need surge protection. I appreciate your input though.
Shunyata products protect against surges and do not degrade the sound or video.

Not sure I agree with this statement. AFSAIK, all surge protectors degrade sound (as they contain filters)

Shunyata does not "filter". It is well documented by 3rd parties that Shunyata does offer surge protection without degrading sound. The Schnerzinger power distributor is not unique in this case, other solutions are more advanced. There are several options that do not degrade sound and offer surge protection.
Is there a traditional fuse in the Allocator? If so, that's not a great design choice.

Electromagnetic Breaker

Over-current protection is a requirement for today’s high current audio power distributors. The vast majority of manufacturers use an inexpensive thermal fuse or breaker. Both are specifically designed to heat up as the current level rises. This causes voltage drops, increased contact impedance, thermal noise, excessive heat generation and current limiting effects. There is a better solution — the hydraulic electromagnetic breaker that utilizes low-impedance relays and a sensing coil that reads the current level without heating up or limiting current. They can operate right up the to the maximum current level without heating up or limiting instantaneous current. They are rarely used in competitive products since they cost 10-20 times that of a common fuse or thermal breaker.

good to know. Thanks for the link

Once I get my Reflectors and Master, that will get me out of the little black boxes rabbit hole

I used ti be very heavily invested in Shunyata and had several Typhon and Tritons in my system

Can someone share the retail price please of the new Reflector and Master?
Also, do these obviate the need for their previous Giga protectors?

I think Schnerzinger's forte is obviously in the protectors; it doesn't seem like the power distributor is as advanced, just by virtue of the fact that they cannot provide surge protection without compromising the sound. This has been solved by Shunyata, and several other, companies - nothing new.

You mean you will stop at the Reflectors? :D
I think I'm done now - aesthetically I can't 'go there' with the Reflectors' placement in front of the speakers.

And be sure to try battery power! Trust me on this.

It is interesting that the placement is on the floor in front of the speakers but everyone I talked to who was at Munich and heard the demo with and without the Reflectors were simply amazed. One person stated that it was the single best A-B demo of any audio product he has ever heard Everyone stated the Reflector does not obviate the need for the Protectors .

my shortcoming with my Typhon and Triton was when I had a guest over who was very experienced in system setup and he suggested ws try listening with and without the Shunyata products. I reluctantly agreed and much to my amazement the sound was so much better without. Im not knocking Shunyata but that for me was a revelation so as far as no surge protection in the Schnerzinger that can easily be addressed at the wall The Reflectors are already so heavily ordered from Munich attendees that there is a supposed 2 month wait now for delivery. No one had anything adverse to say about the Reflector positioning and they have an internal battery that once charged supposedly lasts a year or longer. The Reflector as I understand comes in 3 variations
Master with. 2 reflectors
Master with 3 Reflectors
Master with 4 Reflectors

I went with the first option based on the size of my room

Interesting, thanks. It sounds like it's certainly worth a try, but I'm not going to buy it until I hear it.

Re: Shunyata, the Typhon is now on version 2 and I have not heard anything about the Triton. The best products are the Everest and Denali (v2). The Altaira grounding system has very noticeable huge benefits! (There is a great review in Stereohile, I think). Anyway, not to get off topic...

Like you and probably everyone else, I found it peculiar that the recommended setup was to have the reflectors on the floor in front of the speakers.. Certainly the pictures showed that . So I reached out to Gideon to get the lowdown. His reply.........." reflectors don’t HAVE to be in front of speakers. We did that for the show but preferred in front of speakers in room (not directly in front as a rule!) "

As to the reflector replacing the Protectors I asked him and his reply......"the reflectors not meant to replace grid and EMI but to compliment!!!! Been said several times on this thread."

And here is some early literature on the new “Reflektor.”
I just got my introduction and education in it today. Still in shock over what it does…., the entire frequency spectrum gains a lucidity, intimacy and presence which the Grid and EMI can only hint at. The Reflektor will be part of Schnerzinger’s new top range and not intended to replace the Grid and EMI. Simply needs to be experienced in order to understand its contribution. Available this Summer.

Hi, based on this Reflector documentation (order in 2/4/6 set), it seems different to what Steve had purchased (1 master + 2). Is there a new configuration now including a master?

I misunderstood...here is what I believe is the way they come

option 1. Master and one reflector (2 piece set)

option 2 Master and 2 Relectors (3 piece set)

option 3 Master and 5 reflectors (6 piece set)

I ordered option 2

Regarding setup please see the new manual enclosed.
