The End Of A 35 Year Journey ---Zellaton -The Reference Ultra Final Frontier

This is off subject a little, but I noticed that Audio Arts NYC, the Zellaton dealer is showing a picture of a Stellavox box or amplifier of some type on there Instagram page. I didn't know they made such a product. Is this just a picture from a show or are they going to carry this line. Does Stellavox actually current have any products ? I always thought they are only known for. the tape decks from long ago. Just asking, so now we can get back to Zellaton talk.

Stellavox is back in the game and they have monoblock amps coming to market now and AFAIK a stereo amp and a DAC to follow. Gideon can provide info about this amp as everything I have heard, this amp is something very special and sits at the top of the heap

This question was asked elsewhere in the forum so thought to copy my response regarding Stellavox here as well. We can pick up the conversation in the general forum where it was posted as this is a Zellaton thread:

Earl, you are correct indeed; legendary Stellavox has launched a new series of extreme high end audio including monoblocks, stereo amp, preamp and the long awaited DAC which I heard last month in Switzerland. We compared their seminal TD-9 reel to reel playing master recordings from the Stellavox vault, to digital files on the new DAC and I heard a consistency in the DAC which maintained the same analog sine wave flow and ease which I’ve never heard before from a DAC. I’m initially getting in the new IDEM monoblocks pictured here, many of which are going to clients but available for demo in NY either by me or my clients. PM and I’ll be glad to set up demos for members. Audioartsnyc.com is the appointed North American distributor for Stellavox. HiFi Exotics in HK represent Stellavox in Asia and they already started posting information on FB. Stay tuned as product comes in and we develop media.

Im looking forward to reading about this as, like Earl, Ive always thought of Stellavox as a Reel to Reel company primarily for professionals so now they are in the audiophile business. Being Swiss made Im betting it will be something special

I couldn’t resist as Gideon mentioned he was still shaking from the experience of listening to the Stellavox amp in Switzerland(wish my job was to travel around the world listening to amazing audio gear). So I committed to be the first in Texas to own the beautiful, from the inside, Stellavox stereo amp at my office system. My transistor based system will also be sporting a pair of Zellaton Reference Ultras that this thread and Steve convinced me to purchase. Waiting now for the custom white finish with gold threads on the speakers to be complete. Upon arrival I will report back on the hopefully joyous sonic experience they convey.
In the mean time, I will be busy drilling arm boards for the Invictus table for new arms and cartridges. Just for visual and aural thrills I also ordered a Metaxsis and Sins Papillon reel to reel to complete the look(and sound). My girlfriend of twenty years, who no longer attends audio shows with me, actually got kind of excited as she always thought the R to R decks were the sexiest!

Billy -
Your girlfriend is a keeper for sure.

See you in Austin soon and, btw……, your Metaxis is based on Stellavox - so I’m glad you’re keeping it in the family.

It seems that my Plural Evos get better with time and I'm very happy to set them up with a new partner. Thanks to Gideon, I have a new vinyl setup that, to my ears, is superb. I replaced my old setup with a Reed Muse 3C turnable, Reed 2G tonearm, and My Sonic Eminent EX cartridge. I stream a lot of my music, so my vinyl gear has always been just "good enough". With Gideon's help, I've upped my vinyl game with very pleasing results.

After spending a couple of days with the Reed gear, I'll be listening to vinyl a lot more-tremendous improvement that seems to match perfectly with the Zellatons. The Plural Evos pass along all of the warmth and natural analog sound quality which Reed and My Sonic produce in spades, while maintaining the energy and speed. Very high level performance thanks to great gear and an expert installation.

I don't really like a lot of the audiophile cliches, but particularly with the well recorded pressings this sound really does seem to put the performers in the room with you. Listening to Coltrane and Hartman, its very easy to imagine being front and center at the Birdland Jazz Club, with cigarette smoke drifting to the ceiling, the crowd dressed to the nines because class was still a thing, and these amazing talents making incredible music. Or listening to the King of Blues and putting yourself in the Cook County jail-a far less pleasant venue, but music for the ages reproduced with stunning results.

So, another step on this road and a good one.

Nice one kbh57, those Zellaton's are looking mighty fine!
BTW, the pre-power combination, are they Burmester? Couldn't tell for sure in the pic... I tried zooming in until I got cross-eyed, now I'm having a headache.

Great stuff matey, enjoy those finest tunes!
WOOF! RJ

Yes Burmester 218 and 808 mark 5
Also courtesy of Gideon. Pairs very well with the Zellatons. Schnerzinger cables on the way. Except for the DAC, pretty much a Gideon system.

Pretty big makeover in less than a year. I thought I had a reasonably competent rig before, but, to my ears, this is on a different level.

It's wonderful that you are so happy with your new system! Congratulations to you, and congratulations to Gideon!

Thanks, Ron and thanks for what you do with WBF. I enjoy it very much and particularly enjoy your videos with the masters series. I’ve learned a lot watching those.

I'm delighted! Thank you very much for the kind words!

It might be interesting to interview Manuel Podszus sometime.

Kerry I’m sure looking forward to your impressions with the Schnerzinger loom I’m betting they will be killer with the PE

THE Schnerzinger little black boxes seem like voodoo but as the saying goes once heard you can’t unring a bell.

I’ll be missing you at my event end of this month. The Aphrodite landed today. My wife called me for dinner 3 hours ago. I keep saying “ one more song”

When do your speakers show up. The wait can be excruciating but I promise it will have been worth it

I would love to come visit. When is the date and time of your event? My Evos and Burmeister will be leaving for Ultras and Stellavox in a couple of weeks. Although looking forward to the Stellavox, your Lamm gear is one of my all time favorites. I also have an Olympus and am very curious to hear the Aphrodite. Mine has the internal dac.
