On ebay a used pair is selling for

The second used pair above on EBay has a listed price that is well over the cost of a new pair. That is strange, lol.

This isn’t unusual. The high priced seller is in Japan and providing free shipping. I see this sort of oddity on eBay regularly with high end audio gear. I generally filter sellers who aren’t US based out of my searches.

Depending on the Japanese importing agreement, the normal price in Japan may make this used price plausible to some part(s) of the international market.

It isn’t common. It isn’t something that everyone recognizes. It was certainly an oddity to you. It is common in my searches, so I filter for it.
