Recently I had the opportunity to listen to an audio system I am quite familiar with and in which a few Siltech mastercrown cables were inserted. And I must say, these MC cables sound really marvelous: very smooth / refined, ultra transparent, a deep and beautifully controlled low end presentation, a density ‘to die for’, very open as well as very dynamic. In short, the MC’s give you - in comparison to other high end / high quality cables I am familiar with - more the feeling that you are actually listening to ‘real’ music in stead of music reproduced by our (mechanical) devices. The Siltech MC’s are mighty impressive!

I recently A/B’ed Siltech MC power cords with Transparent Opus powercords on my preamp and streamer. The Siltech was clearly better, perhaps significantly so. However is the 5-6 times more expense worth the improvement or not I am not sure..

Interesting. Can you please inform us in what way the Siltech MC pc is in your view clearly better than the Transparant Opus pc (btw is the latter the top of the line Transparent pc?).

More transparency and resolution. Better bass. Bigger and more 3D soundstage. More refined and a beautiful midrange. No glare at all. Transparent opus sounds flat in comparison and yes it is the top powercord in the line.

I have to agree here. I replaced 2 Opus cords on my amps with Master Crowns. I next bought 2 Double Crown cords for my Pre amp and Dac. While I prefer the DC over the Opus, the gap isn't as large, but still a good gap. I do prefer keeping my Opus Power Isolators in the system with the DC's....

I have listen to Siltech Triple Crown in our system and also had in our system:

- Transparent Audio Opus 6
- Crystal Cable Absolute Dream
- Gryphon VIP Ref 5
- PAD 25th Anniversary
- Sablon Audio Prince
- Vertere (very very brief listen)
- Z:Axis SL777

The Sablon Audio and Z:Axis were by far my favorites over the TA Opus, PAD 25th, Vertere and Gryphon VIP Ref 5. (The Crystal Absolute Dream sounded very much like the PAD 25th interestingly.)

The Triple Crown however showed decidedly more incisive insight into the musical nuances and inflections of Beethoven's 9th (Karajan '63 and Jordi Savall), was every bit as natural. It was just a better cable in my experience, and were it not for the price (3x-5x the price of either Sablon or Z:Axis, I would happily have gone with it across the system.) As it is, we kept the Sablon Prince and the Z:Axis SL777s which are really great.

Jfrech, I haven’t tried the master crowns on my amps because the cords would have needed C19 plugs. My dealer advised putting the best cords on the preamp, followed by the DAC, amps and streamer in that order. Have you experimented with different placements?

Btw, when I listened to the Siltech MC’s one other parameter - you did not mention - stood out as well: dynamics / command. And I fully agree with your other remarks, in particular the transparency, low end and refinement are world class.

I tried Siltech 880 power v Shunyata Alpha v2 and found the latter superior. I went on and purchased a full loom of Alpha X and subsequently an Everest. If I were considering Siltech MC’s I would definitely suggest a demo of Shunyata’ s top of the line Omega X
