Riviera levante

Is it noise that scales with the volume pots and does it scale more with source or levante volume levels?

Do you have any other inputs connected in playing at the same time? I found with the aic at least there was a little bit of bleed between the inputs
No other sources, MSB Preamp section off .
Distortion is worse when increasing lavante volume

Has anyone used the bal inputs on lavante ?
no mater which DAC I use with Bal inputs I get distortion. Even at min volume .
I was using XLR for my TotalDac into the Levante and did not experience any distortion

Silvio says all Lavanti inputs can except 4-5v my MSB is 6v . But I have tried 3 DACs and all have this issue . RCA no issue .

If its true Balance you are getting a 6db gain going to balanced drive, try using your attenuator on the Lampi and see if it changes , also best to confirm hot pins match.

If nothing changes after lowering input drive its safe to assume , you have an issue in your preamp balanced stage..!

Amp vacation time ...!

Try attenuation on your msb
Dac first it’s simple to test.
Then
pin config is next to look at there are a few options no industry standard I think. Also the ground.
the mono block amps by them are amazing in sound im
Sure your integrated is as well.
May I ask what msb model you have ?

at those budgets you should jump to their separates and pres

on a sad sidenote - my Levante is on its way for a check and fix.. volume pot was busted and I noticed a hum before that.

Oh no is there a U.S. repair center ?
I really like the lavante excellent sounding unit . But it's a SE unit , I will just pair the MSB with some other audio gear I have no biggie .

yes they have someone that can take a first look in the US and we'll see what happens from there, I hope he can fix it and it doesn't need to go to Italy but might be better to get a full health check from them.. I love the Riviera sound (owned the AIC10 before).

There are many plenty of pics on the web
they might help and have you sent riviera pics ?

Update , noticed there was a pin header that came unplugged to power the XLR . I plugged it back in and all is good . I also spoke with Silvio and confirmed the XLR input on the Lavante is truly balanced.

Rau, just noticed that you are a Cascade + Riviera owner. I’m considering their APL01SE and AMF100SE based on the rave reviews and synergy with Gobel speakers which I own. Have you had the opportunity to compare sound quality with the Cascade serving as DAC+preamp driving Riviera amps vs Cascade DAC > Riviera preamp > Riviera amps? The APL01SE is a big expenditure, so it would be helpful to understand how essential it is to have in the signal path to generate the “Riviera magic”, or if using the Cascade’s preamp when driving Riviera amps, would offer comparable performance.

No sorry I have Riviera Lavante integrated only .

Has anyone else experienced shipping damage from transformer movement? It’s happened to me twice now.

I purchased a used Levante in January 2025. Upon delivery it was damaged. It was sent to Riviera’s preferred US repair person in AZ. Relays and PS caps were damaged per his report. It was repaired. Upon receipt last week (yes it took over two months for the repairs) I found it to be damaged again in the same way.

The transformer mounting is not loose, yet it moves an inch (25mm) to contact the cover and forward the same amount to take out the relays and capacitors on the lower PCB. I suspect it is the transformer suspension system which allows for this incredible travel distance.

This is an ongoing situation, so I can’t report on conclusions. Obviously I’m concerned that this is as much a design issue as it is a shipping issue. This unit has not been successfully shipped without damage yet. Or maybe this unit has an out of spec. suspension?

Thanks for sharing.
