R.I.P. Florian Schneider (Kraftwerk)

I grew up listening to Kraftwerk and wore out my copy of Computer World on cassette.

Bought Autobahn in 74 and have been a fan ever since , true visionary band, I will enjoy a lengthy Kraftwerk session tomorrow, RIP.

They were to be on tour now before Covid hit. I guess he was no longer active in the band? I planned on seeing them in July.

No, he left in 2008.

I invite everybody to check out their pre-"robot" era LPs, Kraftwerk 1 & 2 and "Ralf & Florian". More organic, but just as creative.
Unfortunately they have largely disowned these early albums, as it didn't fit the "robot"/electronic aesthetic they came up with later, so they haven't been reissued legitimately on CD at all, and original LPs are pricey. But there's always YouTube :)

How about this very early live on TV show, from 1971?
