A sad sad sad news...
Florian Schneider passed away today, he was 73 years old.
Brilliant composer and founder of Kraftwerk, the German band among the highest expression of Electronic music.

Bought Autobahn in 74 and have been a fan ever since , true visionary band, I will enjoy a lengthy Kraftwerk session tomorrow, RIP.

They were to be on tour now before Covid hit. I guess he was no longer active in the band? I planned on seeing them in July.

No, he left in 2008.

I invite everybody to check out their pre-"robot" era LPs, Kraftwerk 1 & 2 and "Ralf & Florian". More organic, but just as creative.
Unfortunately they have largely disowned these early albums, as it didn't fit the "robot"/electronic aesthetic they came up with later, so they haven't been reissued legitimately on CD at all, and original LPs are pricey. But there's always YouTube
