I do have alot of faith in Lukasz and his team and suspect he has created something quite special. Definitely excited to hear others' first impressions when they get a chance to listen. So I guess option 1.5.

While the upgrade cost is obviously not negligible, the list price value trade-in is quite remarkable and a 6 month window as the dust settles. At least that is me trying to justify the idea to myself. If I am honest, I think when I first read the announcement, the cash was already gone.

6. Decided to buy before knowing the price

#2 for me, but even with the generous px terms, it will be 2x Pacific here in the UK, which sets the bar very high

Awesome, what's your current system?
Taiko Extreme > Lampi Pacific > Spectral 30SV > Spectral 500 AR monos > Magico M Pros > 26x19x10.5 purpose built room. I also have an Esoteric K1X with PS1 and Cybershaft OPA21 for spinning discs and as an alternative for files/streaming. Power and digital signal cables by Shunyata, analog signal cables by MIT.

Great.

Interesting systems, how many watts is your 300b amp? And which 211 tubes do you use?

Luxman was a hybrid? How much watt is the Sayes?

Since you are into collecting tubes, try finding Amperex or United 211s?

Amperex, United, and WE 242C will be quite better than GE or RCA, which will be better than KR, which will be better than Psvane. I haven't heard United and WE 242C but know those who compared it to Amperex.

Justin is a hoarder of Amperex.

Now that I have ordered an Horizon I have a pair of unused WE 300B reissues that I don't need. I bought them as a backup but now I only need 1 pair.

If anyone is interested let me know. They will be cheaper than getting then from WE directly. ;)

Does anyone know how to check what firmware the JL Sounds USB is using in the Pacific? Also, how does one flash the firmware to the newest version?

I was under the impression that JL sounds USB card in the Pacific is the same as in the Horizon. Not sure if they have different firmware versions

Depending on when one got their Pacific there are different firmware versions and the newest one is supposed to be much less buggy and finicky than the old one. I can’t verify that since I don’t know what mine is. It isn’t on the spec sheet I got when I received my Pacific and I don’t know how to check it.

Are you talking about the current one (JL sounds) or the old one (Amanero) ?

Amanero had a million of firmware versions (which was one of the reasons they switched over to JL sounds).

I don’t know when I am getting the Horizon and I get some odd communication issue between the Pacific and the Extreme.

I have already reached out to Fred. I was just curious if others had looked into this.
