ordering lampizator GG

Thanks

Great advice Wisnon

really appreciate it :)

So you think with 45s i won't miss choice of elrog 300s by going balanced?

Andrew

Dunno, never tried the Elrogs, but Mike/AL and Andy seem to love them. A quad is $2,400 so even if they were allowed in the Bal build, they are indeed getting pricey.

45 and 2A3 are NOT allowed and wont ever be, unless he does a total chassis redesign, or power supply redesign. not really worth it in my opinion, since now we have 101d, Px4 and 300b. Maybe even 6A3 will work well too, despite being underheated. It certaily will run coolest of the bunch.

The impact of Balanced to a fully balanced chain will be most apparent in dynamics and perhaps a bigger soundstage as well, swamping any impact that the Elrogs may bring to the table. Rememebr the Elrog wont be more than incremental at best over the next best tube. Balanced vs SE in a fuilly balanced chain would be chasmic, in terms of difference. IMHO...

The pictures of the Balanced GG was a prototype casing from a few weeks back. In the FB comments it explained all that. Production version is like the Alum chassis photo here (FB from yesterday):

It would be interesting to see if 4 Psvane 101Ds in a fully balanced chain sound better than original WE 101Ds with the Lampi going in SE into that same system

Likely a big difference in presentation. I suspect the Bal would be more dynamic and have a bigger soundstage. The amps also matter and based on the pre-chatter about the Bal 211 with no phase splitter (saying that it keeps the SET SQ with oodles of real world power)...it seems the 211 amp combo with Bal GG/B7 using a differential summator, promises the best of all worlds. Let the games begin.

Thanks Norman

that concurs with my original understanding that for bal was 101D only

300b would make great addition

I am now toying with the idea of ordering bal 211 at same time

Lets see what his 300 b tests show....

and thanks for clarifying those pics i knew that couldnt be right from a heat point of view

Some early Balance Lampi feedback. This poster will get the Balanced 211 Lampi amps in a week or 2….from Audioshark.

Lampizator Big 7 balanced into Pass XA60.5's balanced ...
My first night/day with the Lampi was playing into my Jolida with KT-150's as an integrated basically running single ended via the XLR inputs on the amp. While it was great, I've been repeatedly told the true magic happens with running the Lampi fully balanced direct to a balanced amp.

Tonight I hooked up my Pass XA60.5's and I have to tell you, Wow! Lukasz, Fred, Norman and Rob are totally right. I normally prefer a preamp in the chain but the Lampi seems different. I suspect some songs/recordings may indeed benefit from a fully balanced preamp but for the most part the soundstage is HUGE! Left, right and top to bottom, beautiful music fills my room. Everything seems more correctly placed as well. ZERO sibilance and sweet vocals. Great depth and even better 3D to the music. I like the Lampi direct, a lot. It certainly simplifies my system. My Lampi is really fulfilling a need/void that is undeniable.

I plan on trying my single ended amps direct too and see what I gain/miss in the process. I still have room to tweak and account for break in. I am amazed and a happy camper.

Andrew you need to check if the amps can handle the panel impedance

Andrew:

Fresh from the Lampizator FaceBook page:

LampizatOr On a separate note, PX4 and 300B get approved for working in balanced version of our DAC. So far only 101D were allowed. Still neither 45 nor 2A3 is allowed in the balanced DAC.

LampizatOr OK, these tubes are of absolute no compromise best technical quality. The way they are put together is not from this world. Drooling all over. Sonically this bunch - 2A3, PX4 and 300B are similar, if I was hard presses to name the differences, PX4 is very slightly best in space and aura department. 2A3 is best in bass and foundatiopn, while 300B is an allrounder. These tubes are fresh and not broken in yet, but my 101D-L WE replica still remain my tube of choice.

Thank you Norman. Yes, that was me. My Balanced Big 7 Lampizator is a game changer. I am done with dacs. It just sounds so natural and organic. It just takes away all the hash, leanness, any sibilants without sounding rolled off or colored.

I love my Lampi. I can not get over how great it sounds. Beautiful music fills my room and has really taken me to another level. Lukasz is a genius

That is excellent news. I want my SE GG to upgrade to balanced.

Hi Joe, is this only DSD, or PCM as well? Did you not have the BADA before?

What can you tell us about your SE GG as it opens up? Apart from Mike and Blue58, there has not been that much GG feedback.

GG is excellent. This is the best DAC I have ever had in my system. It is so musical. My music collection is 99% 16/44.1 as I have a large classical music collection. This DAC gives me great pleasure on PCM. Tube rollings will give different sound but basic sound character is the same. It is silky smooth with strong bass. GG simply has no weakness.

I am intrigued to know how GG balanced can improve on GG SE.

It has both PCM and DSD.

I still have a Berkeley reference on order. My wait is going on 7 months for delivery. I know of four other people also waiting 4 to 6 months for delivery for the Berkeley reference. Naturally we are not happy.

Which tubes duo you use? I am into classical, and agree this is the best dac for it, I.prefer the 101d replicas

I tried Psvane 300B, Elrog 300B and Psvane 101D replica. I prefer 300B as they are very smooth and musical. Elrog 300B is very sweet. Violin and flute sound very natural with Elrog. But Elrog tubes have serious microphonics. May try EML 300b mesh later.

Hi what's the rest of your system, and do you also have a TT?
