All speakers posses some coloration, signature or landmark, and touching the Avalon case, i have found some opinions of preference for both the "old" Avalon sound (integration, soundstaging, dark sounding) versus the "new" one (dynamic, complete and still great soundstage recreation capabilities) - what is your opinion for those who have heard them both?

To facilitate responses, old sound might be referred to models like the Eclipse, Ascent and Radian - new could be related to Eidolon, Indra or Isis.

Personally I do prefer the euphonic sound of the former models.
The new Avalon speakers are great, but do follow the contemporary voicing of actual speaker designs, like Gauder, Tidal, Marten and so on.

First of all, is difficult to find Avalon right positioned in a listening room! Evaluate Avalon positioned 20cm far from the back wall is like evaluate Ferrari F40 in a country street.
I prefer sound of the old model like Eclipse or Ascent. If you ave enougth space, Ascent is the best choice.
In the new models I listend Ascendant and Mixing Monitor, it is true the definition about the improve of clarity and sense of space but at the expense of a little magic (or naturalness) lost.
I have Avalon Eclipse, I could be biased.;)

Hi,
I have had 5 pairs of Avalon speakers over the last 25 years
Eidolon,Eidolon Diamond,Isis,Saga,Saga Signature
and the new Avalons are light years ahead of the old ones.
That is why I became a dealer for Avalon a few years ago, they have come so far
in developing their sound.Keeping the positives and upgrading the negatives.
I currently have the Saga Sigs in my system and would not trade them for any
speaker,PERIOD.
I also sold a pair of Saga Saga Sigs to a doctor in Pennsylvania and he went
from old Isis to the new Saga Sigs and he could not be happier.
Avalon has a tremendous following in Europe and Asia, people in the
USA are just realizing how far their new speakers have come.
Any questions message me.

I have a question, i take advantage.:)
Could you ask directly to Avalon which tweeter it is right for replacement in my Avalon Eclipse? You know MB Quart tweeter is no more longer available (old one). I searched on web and i found Eton 26HD3 is ideal. Could Avalon confirm it?
This problem is for Eclipse, Ascent, Radian, Avatar and Monitor (old).

I have very fond memories of the Indra, Transendence and my first Avalon, the Ascendant. Great speakers!

Are they even still in business? I saw they showed in Munich this year, however they never answer phone or reply to emails and google search reveals quite a few angry parts vendors reporting non payments...

Also, it would help a lot for them to update their web site and provide info where to audition a particular model.

Hi,
The best way to contact Avalon is through a dealer.
There are plenty of dealers in Europe and Asia not so many in
the USA.That is what I am trying to fix.
I am a rep for Avalon.
Avalon lost contact with the audiophiles in the USA but their new
offerings are superb. All you need is to listen to their latest line
(Precision Monitor 1-4 and Isis and Saga Signature)
If you are a dealer interested in adding Avalon to your brands
contact me through private message.
