Hi,

I want to upgrade my current Melco S10 switch to one of the following switches - Nordost Qnet7 + Qsource vs Reiki SuperSwitch + Linear PSU + optical bridge.

I want to ask if you have any exprience with these switches and recomendation?

Today, I'm using nordost Qbase Reference and all my cables from Nordost (PC, Interconnects, Speakers), maybe I replace them with audioquest cables in the future but not
now.

Why not the Synergistic Research switch? It sounds fantastic.

There are a lot of good options, I read the Roy Gregory review about the Reiki and Nordost have a great products.

You might want to consider posting in this thread as you might get more eyeballs from those interested in switches.

I’m sure the two you mentioned are quite good, but my experience with Nordost has generally been that their products tend to not to deliver the best bang for the buck.

I recently got a Network Acoustics tempus switch and couldn’t be happier.

I am also using Melco S10 and would put Dela S1 in the shortlist

I have listened to most of the "big hitter" switches and made direct comparisons. Nordost redesigned their switch from the older QNet to the newer Qnet7. IMHO they pretty much had to do this as the old QNet was at the bottom of the list in terms of sound quality. (Of course it beat mass market switches like D-link etc) I have not had a chance to compare the newer Qnet7 yet.

Do you need the extra ports in the switch? If not then they represent pathways for noise to infiltrate and will degrade performance.

Was your experience with the QNet with the QSource power supply or without?

I think it was the youtuber Jay who said the QNet was a bit meh with the included smps, but when used with the QSource and a good power cable he raved about it. But I think the power cable he used was more expensive than either component!

In fact the QSource lifts considerably the performance of the QNET. I have owned the system for some time, and unfortunately the custom rigid LEMO cable broke near the connector due to mishandling after some time. I had to wait for a couple of weeks for a new one, and used it with the small switching power supply that comes with the Q7 - an huge back step. I used it with an Heimdall 2 power cable.

i've had the Nordost QNet with the QSource power supply for 3 years (agree much better with the QSource); when i got it it was a nice improvement. then a year ago i got the Reiki SuperSwitch Pro and Pro Linear PSU which was a significant step up (magnitude larger jump than the QNet) in the context of these things; less processed, better flow/energy, lower noise, more presence. i retained the Nordost pair and stacked them behind the Reiki set-up which was even a little better.

no experience with the Nordost Qnet7. my total guess is that it's better than the Qnet, but not quite on the level of the Reiki.

hope that helps.

Sorry to be late to this thread. I’ll generally echo Mike’s comments. I auditioned the QNet w/ the QSource in my system and while it was better than the English Electric 8 switch I had in place at the time, it wasn’t enough of an upgrade to make it worth the spend. I auditioned the Reiki Super Swith Pro and linear PS and it was a very material improvement. While I’ve no experience with the QNet 7, I remain skeptical that Nordost can compete with the best when straying so far from their core business. I’m a fan of the brand but designing network components seems a different animal.
