Nick Drake: Pink Moon Deluxe Vinyl Box Set?

I got one...

Haven't had a chance to listen yet, but opened it to make sure all is well. I don't have any other versions on vinyl, only CD, so not sure it would be a useful comparison. Visually the boxset looks really nice despite a very small split in the record sleeve as well as the jacket. The record is in perfect shape luckily. Numerous reports of the sleeve and/or jacket split. There is a little extra space inside the box which allows the contents to travel around during shipping. The jacket is the European soft style jacket and the record is heavy, so it's easy to see why the slight damage would happen during shipping. Other than that, can't wait to listen to it.

Would be a safe bet to say this will sell out very quickly due to limited availability. If your thinking about getting a copy I wouldn't wait too long.

I clicked on your link and my virus program wouldn't allow me to go the link because it said it contained malware.

Hmmm. Works perfectly for me. Maybe a hyper sensitive AV program?

Any one order this?

I've looked at it and looked at it; just can't bring myself to do it. It it were Bryter Layter, I would have likely pre-ordered, but I don't listen to Pink Moon very much, as short as it is. So unbelievably draining, even a side at a time. Not in the same way as Berlin, which kinda moves itself in and out of horrifying scenery. More like a slow death (pun intended). FWIW, I have the Fruit Tree box from the '80.

It is also a helluva rip at $60.

Listened to each side one time today and gotta say I think it sounds really nice. My copy is nice, quiet & the music just slid right off of it.... I don't have an original and doubt the original sounded this nice. Haven't listened to the downloads so no comments on that end. I payed $50 for my copy and while $50 - $60 might seem a lot, keep in mind how many other audiophile re-issues are selling at the same price which don't even include any dig. downloads. Certainly a lot cheaper than trying to find a minty original. Nice boxset overall I'm happy!!!

I'm glad you like it. The music is of course uttterly magical. Just seems a steep price for 28 minutes of music..although I do understand the packaging is lavish, to say the least.

The packaging is nice, except I'm not a fan of the European/soft style jackets, way too flimsy.... Indeed a short album, but It's nice that this re-issue is all analog. I feel like it's a really good thing being given a second chance to buy this album from the original master and have the downloads as well. Is $50 - $60 a good value, well I guess that depends on who ya ask.

I either have subscriptions or buy a lot of audiophile re-issues. Currently Music Matters, Analog Productions' Verve & Prestige, and non jazz titles as well, ORG's jazz titles, etc... None include downloads. Many jazz records are not very long either. We pay a lot of money for gear and the price of a good record is a drop in the bucket in comparison. Also take into consideration what mint originals fetch and well.... you understand what I'm getting at.

I agree $50 + is a lot of money for 28 minutes of music but not in this case. If you are a fan of Nick Drake, don't have an original and want the best sound quality possible, this is the one to get. Only bad thing is that we won't have this all analog luxury when it comes to Bryter Layter & Five Leaves, bummer....

I hear ya all the way and I agree with just about all you say.

Although this illustrates what a fantasy pipe dream it is that vinyl will somehow "save" this hobby.

Young people are going to spend $40-$60 on vinyl reissues like I'm spending $170K on a Magico Q7.

These titles are going to sell to the shrinking, grizzled, well heeled hobbyists. The proof is in the pudding..this is a single
run pressing.

The single LP was released today. $25 MSRP. I bought a copy. It's fantastic!
