New Tweak - Good Bang for the Buck

You compare 2 glass vases to a Novum MKII and then claim the user is polluting and distorting the musical reproduction? Okay. To each their own, I guess. For the record, one does not need to play it loud in order to hear the effects from the so called bell.

Since it's quite obvious you haven't tried, nor heard one, yet are telling me what I am hearing and that I am damaging the reproductive effort? I think I'll permanently bow out of our conversation, as this will go absolutely nowhere fast. Have a great day.

Tom

The Holostages is a different category, A small square box cannot affect the room acoustics more than a randomly placed book= inaudible. It cannot affect the noise level in the room, or anything about the reproduction of music.

What is the explanation for how it interacts with electronics or speakers? For what I found here is utter nonsense:
Ions and static charge intervening with sound waves? I would back to school library and find some a physics class books to check the reality of these claims, but I already taken physics at University and read several Acoustic Textbook. None support these fantastic claims.
If the claims are true placing a battery in the room will alter the sound, and lighting a candle light too..
Tweeks are such an interesting subject. Some seem to really work and others not so much. But just because it cannot be explained at the current time does not mean it cannot be true. In many ways we are not unlike humans from 10,000 years ago because there are still so many things we do not understand and cannot explain, although with each passing year we learn more and understand more. So with all due respect, it is completely arrogant to flatly say that something cannot be true or cannot affect sound in some way, either positive or negative. The truth is that there is probably more that we do not understand and cannot explain than what we do understand and can explain.

Extraordinary claims needs extraordinary evidence.. simple as that.

Even if Science understands more and more the general knowledge and skill does not seem to improve, in matters of physics and nature and hi-fi in particular , accepting any silly claim without questions is a bad practice, and not helping progress.
What if I claimed than an ant peeing behind the three across the park where I live cause distortion inn my left channel stereo?
Why not to accept that too as a possible “truth”, ?

...ants don't pee, so it's probably due to bird activity. If it's an odd-numbered day. In an odd numbered month. You'll have to trust me on this, BC.

Plausibility?

What’s plausible about gravity? Mass curves space-time. The universe came out of nothing. What’s “plausible” about all that? Sophistry was abandoned, for the most part, but thanks you for keeping it going.

Back here in the real world those of us anchored in reality go by evidence. Not what some other buddy thinks, but what actually does happen. Observation. The scientific method. Try it!

I'm sure you've arrived at this very impressive determination after taking a truly objective approach:

1. Interviewing the maker in an attempt to determine what they believe causes the device to impact sound.
2. Finding an unbiased sample to listen to a reference systems that they're highly familiar with, both with and without the tweak implemented. This should allow for observation without bias, because you appear to be highly biased.
3. Determining and executing a suite of measurements in an attempt to capture the 'how' behind perceived changes in sound by the sample. (hint: if your sample can hear it and you can't measure it, you're measuring the wrong thing).

We are dealing with subjective issues, impressions and individual perceptions of what is or isn't real for each of us. I think it works and if I think it works, it works for me. It isn't necessary for anyone else to agree. It is like buying a car or anything else, if you think you got a good deal you got a good deal.

….until you realize you didn’t.

"….until you realize you didn’t." Sometimes you never do! My parents used to say "ignorance is bliss." Now I understand.

I honestly think the Moderators should take a closer look on the original post and authenticity of it..
Why? No different from many posts on this forum. If you think "tweaks" should be inexpensive, like a six pack or two of beer, fine. Some don't. And to judge others who disagree with your predisposition is very presumptuous (verging on arrogance) on your part.

For me, and for so many others, Holostages are one of the most impressive tweaks out there. Don't knock if you haven't tried it. You might be pleasantly surprised. If not, you can always send them back. So easy!

Easy when you know from trying. Unfortunately, the grave problem being online, even easier to just blast away as if you’re some authority when in fact you haven’t tried anything and therefore haven’t the foggiest idea what you’re talking about.
If people would simply read through the comments and then delete from memory everything else but the people who have actual experience then it would be clear that no matter what is going on these things really do work.

Another benefit hardly anyone ever mentions is that things like Holostages are forever components. Nothing active, no moving parts to wear out, works across a wide range of components and applications, and in almost all cases more is better. So instead of upgrading you keep what you have and simply add more. Which lots of us do.

You make a salient point about Holostages being a forever improvement. They can be tailored to each individual room & setup. And, they are future proof!

Even some of the most steadfast skeptics who contribute regularly to this forum have experienced similar results with the addition of Holostages, but they had to try them first!

Indeed! Everyone says they are looking for improvement. But then instead of listening to people who actually have found it- or at least trying to find out for themselves!- they argue like sophists how many fairies can dance on the head of a pin. Except instead of seeing their feelings for what they are- uninformed impressions- they pontificate as if proclaiming mathematical proofs.

KISS: go and listen. You will see. Until then it sure would be nice if they would just say, “Hey look I have no idea whatsoever if this works because I have never tried and have no intention of ever trying, but I can’t stop myself pretending to know more than you anyway so..,.” If only they could muster up even the tiniest bit of candor.

KISS: go and listen.
Agree BUT what/which is recommended best (WBF) Schnerzinger or Holostage products? Forget price please.
I am interested but want to do first and only with the best and this forum is the place, however why hasn't anyone compared the two as they both seem to be alike and recieve raves. THX

Of course everyone's entitled to their opinion, but you're doing yourself a disservice if it's not an informed opinion. Unfortunately, the skeptics are missing out on a proven idea that may well elevate their listening experience to new heights. These little buggers really make a difference!
