New Neumann DST

Would be interesting to try it out and compare to Daniel’s AnalogTechnik builds.
However, the EMT connection only is off putting, I do have a dedicated 13’’ tonearm but with an SME connector it would require an adapter.
I have bad experiences with such adapters.

And a lot cheaper than a previous replica:

Yes, and speaking to the people who play these regularly, they don’t seem concerned about record wear.

Using the right alignment jig will be very useful considering it’s hard to see the stylus under the body.
From what I understand, it's not the weight but the design of the cartridge that can cause damage. The DST is so highly regarded it's probably worth any risk.

6.5 gram VTF ...
With a 1.4 gram VDH 1s diamond and incorrect settings, you'll cause more damage than with the DST on a lp. I wouldn't worry about that.;)

I just think it’s very cool that someone has gone to the effort to make what looks like a very exacting replica. I’m hoping that we can see reports from people who have the cartridge and ideally can comment on the comparison with an original. I have heard the original in two different systems. It deserves its legendary reputation.

The weight can cause damage, unless you assume it is perfectly aligned and grooves of LP are perfect each time. Turning into grooves at that weight with any misalignment can damage the grooves. Of course misalignment is possible with lower weight carts as well. Decca carts cause a lot of damage because of regular misalignment.

High VTF quickly wears out the stylus, and misalignment (or tonearm issues) can bend the cantilever and even misalign the generator, but they don’t damage records — even at 6.5g. In my opinion, record wear is not an issue, especially with older, hardened records.
