New Album & The Beginning of Basketball Season

Lakers got beaten by the GSW who I think have a very competitive team this year and came close to upsetting the lakers last year

The big news today however is vastly different

anyone remember this historic event.........

AI Overview

The NBA referee who gambled on games was Tim Donaghy, who was convicted for this in 2007. He was sentenced to 15 months in prison for his involvement in a scheme to provide inside information on games he officiated to a professional gambler. While he maintained he did not fix games to win bets, a later ESPN investigation suggested his officiating may have been compromised.

  • The scandal:
Donaghy admitted to betting on NBA games he was officiating and providing inside information to a professional gambler.

  • The penalty:
He pleaded guilty to charges related to this scheme and was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison.

  • Game fixing:
While Donaghy claimed he never fixed games, an ESPN investigation found that his calls favored the team his associates had bet on in 23 of 30 games analyzed, though the NBA's official investigation concluded there was no conclusive evidence of game-fixing.

Multiple NBA players, apparently more than just Rozier and Billups, involved in gambling arrested by the FBI this morning.

I expect this to be a big story with many suspensions and firings

Although this particular case may be confined to the NBA, I expect the contagion will also be discovered elsewhere, like in college BB & FB where there's lots of money sloshing around with very loose governance.

I was watching the news and these players are in deep doo doo. The FBI reports fraud approaching many 10's of millions of dollars

The poker scheme Chauncey was involved with was mafia run and showed the machines used to create the fraud. The card tables were xray machines that revealed all the cards dealt. One guy lost $1.8 million in one game alone

Real basketball doesn’t start ‘till the college season starts soon. :)

Thunder v Pacers last night was an exhilarating, exhausting, disappointing, and ultimately an encouraging thrill ride for we Pacers faithful, ultimately resulting in a double-overtime victory for the Thunder.
Both teams battled neck-and-neck throughout the evening. The first half was low-scoring, and Andrew Nembhard - the Pacers' point guard in the absence of Haliburton - was knocked out with a shoulder injury that seems ominous. By the fourth quarter forwards Pascal Siakam and Benn Mathurin were handling PG duties. This is a huge issue for the next several weeks. Any point guard solution that emerges will likely involve rookies and G-leaguers.
I certainly have a Pacers fan's viewpoint when it comes to SGA, but it was frustrating to see him shooting 26 free throws while not being charged with a foul himself until the fourth period. I get the MVP thing, but we saw several video replays (in the arena) where it was clear that the ref blew his whistle based upon SGA's body movement during a play rather than because he actually saw contact.
The Pacers have guts and determination that is off the charts, and I hope that doesn't result in them piling up injuries during the long season ahead. The Thunder are who we thought they were: talented, reigning champs, and pretty gutsy themselves. I'm encouraged that the Pacers - without Haliburton - took the champs to the wire and that Mathurin seems to have taken the next step. Now if Siakam could only sink those free throws...

Wembanyama got new moves.. exciting to watch
His reach crosses two time zones. He will be the face of the NBA soon as he is indeed special

with LeBron sitting out his second game with sciatica, Lakers , I must admit played one heck of a game without him and at home they close out the Wolves big time
Final 128-110

Luka with 49 tonight and ANT 31

I really think the acquisition of Smart has helped the team with some razzmatazz

DeAndre Ayton seems to finally found a home. At 7'0" he is one big dude . I can never understand why the Suns let him go.He has really bulked up since playing for the Suns

I truly feel your pain re the Pacers. Their candle who lights the flame out for the year with a ruptured Achilles sustained last season in the conference finals. Pacers start slow with an 0-3 record

Could the Celtics bubble have burst last season as they also start slowly with an 1-2 record

Sixers are 4-0 in the East and the champion Thunder are 5-0 and remain the team to beat this year IMO. They re a young and very talented team whose dynasty could last for several years to come

Lakers were the last team to Three-peat in 2000-2002 when Shaq and Kobe were in their prime. Thunder IMO could be the next serious dynasty

ANT out with a hamstring and Lakers in the groove tonight with everyone hitting. Lakers beat the Wolves 2nd time in 2 weeks. Wolves rallied in the 4th to take a one point lead but my man Austin proved to be the star

Final Lakers 116-115 as Reeves wins it at the buzzer

Jake LaRavia is very impressive

The young Spurs are showing more than glimpses and people are taking notice. El Jefe's coaching successors are doing great so far on both ends of the floor and the players have clearly bought in in a big way. Can't wait to see SAS and OKC go head to head in the battle of the big combo guards and long range sniping, shot erasing skyscrapers.

Still under the radar is the new look Bucks who have now surrounded Giannis with other fast and long side kicks. Philly guards are going berzerker mode and should get even deadlier with PG's return projected to be playing more of a stretch 4 role as Embiid, as usual, deals with injury issues.

@JackD201

well tonight is the big one Jack as SAS vs Lakers. I have to admit that your assessment of the Spurs is spot on as they are indeed very good. The few games I've watched the Lakers play suggested they have improve with trades and acquisitions in the off season. Both teams are tied for 2nd in the WC so it should be a very good game

Just saw the highlights. Great game by the Lakers!

Hey Stevie, this could very well be the season where the changing of the guard becomes official. What do you think?

in the league.....it happened last year with the Thunder but last night's game truly shows how good SAS are....they are like the Thunder 5 years ago

As for changing of the Lakers guard, Doncic is the unofficial leader of the team. How the Cavs let him go for AD is mind boggling.

AS you pointed out Jack the. WC is filled with great teams so it will be a wild ride this year. I hope Le Bron finally retires and let the team grow under these young kids

Last night's finish was a nail biter
