Brad, your thoughts on both Avantgarde rooms. Top class Wadax gear use but AG amps on one setup.

There is always potential here but the only time I have heard Avantgardes really sound great are with good tube gear. Otherwise they quickly get a bit relentless sounding.

Ked, it is a good thing i am neither poor nor an audiophile.

This morning I ordered a pair of AER BD5.

On another note;the Cessaro Alpha, first version are excellent speakers.

I am surprised that Arcadian used a kilowatt of solid state.

Kind regards,G.

Yes, I heard them sound good with KR Audio Kronzilla monos many years ago...2009 I think it was.

Ked, very even handed response for a Monday.

I am often confused by some exhibitors not working in harmony.

My personal experience of big horn systems is they require at least 10 metres in order to fully develop their sonic potential.

Kind regards G.

Could be. I guess this is realted to the length of the horn because most of the upper range is coming from a single driver, which should require almost no distance. i did find the bass was not so well integrated at the show and kind of jumped up out of nowhere when something deep came along.

Brad, as it ever was, poor sound from some of the priciest gear.

I bet no one on this forum but me actually bothered to go in the Supravox room either due to lack of brand recognition (even though some big boy players obviously know their drivers are good) or the pricelist on the door had too few zeros.

Did any one go listening the Triangle Art Reference Turntable? The pictures at Stereophile looked impressive (CES2018).

OTOH Brad, I wonder how many VS fans would have enjoyed a more typical AC type sound?
Audio really appeals to lots of different tastes.

The Triangle Art Reference Turntable was not able to play.
On the first day someone stole the vacuum cleaner out of the room, while doing it, he (she?) destroyed the tonearm in a box. Bad luck....

Surely stealing the tonearm makes more sense?

I have been in that room after Lee dragged me in.
But he played the bigger ones on the outside.

How did you like the Giya 3, driven by Kronzilla 680 and KR 135?
I liked that Sound a lot

I don't adhere to the pure subjetive viewpoint...you ought to know this by now...

Who is Lee? I liked the big ones on the outside a lot...very promising I thought. The KR room was good but didn't leave a really strong impression on me for some reason. I liked two years ago with the RD Acoustics horns and the Foxtex driver (or Voxativ but the Foxtex had better bass)... a poor man's Pnoe ;)

Brad, we agree more than we disagree, the big statement multidriver thing has never appealed to me since I discovered the more purist approach of horns, planars, and in my particular case, augmented full range drivers.

This was a superb small room. Good body, density, dynamics, drive.

Does anyone know if Wadax presented, finally, his Arkadia DAC?

Pics from My-hiend.com thanks to Leo.
Only spotted the Atlantis in the Ag room.
This should have been the better AG room as it used tube amps.

I was looking forward to hearing Cessaro in a few weeks until they cancelled the LAAS - oh well.

Keith, if Cessaro SQ at shows anything to go by, you’re better off hearing them at a dealer.
