You don't find "The Playboy Theme" recorded very much. Playboy after Dark was great TV....now extinct.

Lol, Roger is giving them free publicity to increase their yearly revenues and contributing to the country's economy by the same token. Plus the love of music sharing pure and simple.

It's funny how it works sometimes. :)

* I believe the same happened to one of Tango's music video in a not too distant past.

I haven't had the Accuphase P300 amp running for about the last 3 months. Today I used all 33 drivers going and to my ear it seemed to fill in the spaces and added some weight and fullness. The recording is a Telarc EPIC film themes.

I purchased this album back in high school. The San Francisco symphony w/ the Siegel– schwall band. I always thought this was a neat recording.
Using the 33 drivers again, 2 channel stereo though.

I did some research on the Japanese Victor Flair K2HD mastering CD’s and ordered the KOB and Take Five versions. I also ordered the Mobil Fidelity hybrid SACD KOB and a Japanese SME +1 DSD KOB CD.
I already have the standard red book and Mastersound Gold KOB versions. Of these two I prefer the red book which has more pace than the MS Gold...I think the RB is also more vivid imho.
I’m interested in how these others will compare.

Btw i’m back to no toe in on all the speakers in the system except the small Fulton FMI speakers mounted on the upper L & R corners which steer the psychoacoustic system. God help me if I change it again...

Dave Brubeck’s timeless Time Out. A comparison on cut #7 and I favor the Redbook, it moves me better than the K2...but that is done well. Maybe both have there good points. I think Brubeck’s intensity on the keys comes off better in the 2nd part of the recording. Overall I get more of a group jamming intently on the RB version.

I am thinking the K2 presents a more environmental friendly cancer free atmosphere vs the RB which has a smoker in the room :D if you know what I mean.

From the video I like the K2 better.

When you cross 65 in age you start thinking about your passion and projects.. what you want to accomplish still in life. Being disabled from birth, audio has always been my favorite way to relax and keep busy. So after reading Russ's bucket list post, I decided to get busy and start living my dream full scale....no holds barred as best as I can do.
I get around pretty good still, have dropped about 55 pounds in the last 2 years and will get back to my high school weight in the next 5 months. I had my gallbladder out last Saturday, I was home 5 hours later...simply amazing and my digestive tract now feels wonderful. Don't be afraid if you have trouble....because there can be symptoms that most don't associate with the gallbladder.

So my bucket list is...
Complete the C37.... pending
Complete my Crown RTR collection done
Finish various Ampex projects pending
Complete my FM tuner collection McIntosh MR78, DaySequerra FM Reference done
Marantz 10B pending
Finish my upstairs vintage system JBL L55's, Fisher 800C, pending
Finish my Home Theater TAD system pending
Finish my Downstairs 4 channel system and Vintage system. 4 JBL L200's, Marantz 4400 receiver and Marantz model 7 and 9's pending

So I'm going for it with laser focus...Thanks for reading..

I received my Mobil Fidelity reissue of KOB yesterday and after all the hype I read about this remastered disc....I had my DDK moment. The biggest POS of all my KOB cd’s
Why these remastering engineers think the outcome quality rests with removing all the tape hiss present and thus lowering the floor in the recording is beyond me. Is that what people expect?
Following this protocol of ignorance... they remove all of the original brilliance and the result is a sterile lifeless poor imitation of a historical classic. EOR

I will have my totally refurbished Crown CX822 2 track machine at about the end of the month. The Crowns are unique in that the signal path is short and discrete thus yielding great sonics. The transport is designed to be toggled and feathered with the FF and RR buttons thus controlling the blazing fast tape handling. Besides the industrial looks the build quality is top notch...never to be duplicated again. I really like the module design.
My friend Chuck Ziska has a CX822 available now....these are moving into audiophile hands which owners buy for the long term and prices keep moving up. Chuck is the "CrownDoc" a Crown factory technician....He knows these machines backwards and forward and has the complete expertise and parts to make these machines "as new".

Chuck Ziska has sent me some restoration photos of my Crown 2 track tube machine. Should be done in about a month.
These are of the tape transport. The transport was missing the fan shroud to cool the reel motors and the tape speed linkage and push pull switch which will be restored to original.

I also received my restored SS Crown 2 track and Chuck makes these decks factory new...amazing work.
The SS deck was a 3 speed which Chuck converted the 3 3/4 board from NAB bias to European bias standard. That allows me to play both standards at 15 ips...I thought that was a pretty nice mod.
Next will be a 4 track tube Crown and then a dual mono SS Crown 2 track which will complete my collection at 7 Crown’s. I’m told there are some Crown collectors with as many as 28 machines..Wow!

I have both Crowns...CX824 and the CX822 in the system now. As far as I can tell, so far the positioning hasn’t effected the imaging.
The Studer C37 will be on the side wall towards the back. A Ampex AG440C and both tube type Crowns will be on the back wall. Two MR70’s and the Ampex 350 and another 440C with be in the home theater equipment room.
All the other Ampex will be upstairs. 75A96347-D319-461A-BBBF-C96A716CAF74.jpeg
