Munich High End 2019

Collectively the WBF group at the show all thought the Aeries Cerat was coloured.

That said it is a skilled colouration attempt. Or a fluke, whichever way you look at it.

Very good in many ways. A cure from walking from room to room that all seemed to sound the same.

There appears to be a.mid bass hype and narrow sweet spot but there's what I would describe as an uncanny sense of well being and naturalness in its delivery that nothing else here did in the same way.

Nice one.
Hello user211
That is your second visit on our room(2017+2019) that you did not introduce yourself to me.i am starting to think you don't like me:) you know I don't bite.

Anyhow an honest question.how does uncanny sense of wellness(opposite of discomfort?)+ Naturalness (opposite of unnaturalness?)= Coloration?
Except if by coloration you mean all the five carton walls bouncing .
Asking for a friend:)

Thanks anyway for stopping by.it was a crazy last days with people staying after hours ,literally having to push people out of room ,one hour after closing.
Cheers
S

Bonzo, could you tell me abit more about this room?

Hi Hieukm, it is tough to give details about hifi show rooms though many visitors have an uncanny ability to. Imo the most you can say about such things is if it sounds musical as a whole or not (which does not reflect on the equipment). If the rest of the equipment you know well or if the speakers had been there year after year, paired with different amps, might give a bit more clue, but that's about it

For anybody visiting NY I would go to rhapsody audio and get Bob to play you his various amps from Kondo to jadis plus some SS on them.

I would doubt they are substitutes for big horns though, but definitely well suited for smaller rooms and much better than the cones on show unless one wants one tone disco bass

Hieukm, Dont let this guy distract you. It is only entertaining hearing about new find. Your special Cessaros and mine are extraordinary. We just need to dig out every bit of its potential. Remember Seabisquit.

Tang ;)

Are you putting shun Mook mpingo wood on them Tang?

How is it skillful if you can pick up obvious coloration, it only means boredom and fatigue :)!

david

Well just that the pervasive colour is pleasant on the ear if that is your thing. It isn’t my thing but can see why it attracts.

Hybrid amps on Silbatone?!?!

The VT2 20w hybrid is for the Silbatone, not for the original WE. What they are playing here is the original WE with 205c 6w with a tube that has 600 hours of life.

The WE 22 on top is sheet metal with original WE 555 driver. The bass is a papier mache made by their sub contractor using brains and preference in 1930 (during recession they had to outsource) and this is with the GIP 555.

Additionally they have the 597 tweeter as always

The two horns is how it ran in the cinemas back then. They have added a sub that is run with marantz.

Awesome - please could you ask which drivers - assume 18” Jensen. Also what order crossover.

8 Altec 515a drivers crossed over at 40 with dbx. No crossover for the rest of the speakers

Thanks very much indeed, Ked!!

Was there a sub in left and right corner or just the left?

Left.

You remember every time they played digital in this room it sounded really bad compared to the analog? Today at one point I thought they were playing analog. They were actually playing digital. I was wondering how dCS started sounding good. Turns out they replaced the dCS with a dac that JC Morrison built.

Oh cool. Wonder what the name and price is of that dac or maybe not retail product.

Any impressions about the new Audionec Evo speaker line + Lampizator?
Thanks in advance.

Interesting, I thought Audionec made quite an impression with their Divas in Munich last year...

Some liked thiis system as well. Munich has thousands of people so impressions will vary
