MUNCHEN 2025 MOC / MARRIOTT The final Chapter !

Wow. i say this with no disrespect, it's obviously a matter of taste, but my ears shut down with this kind of music. I hope they had some variety in their playlist.
Agree, a lot of rooms in Munich played this kind of music. BTW, Marco Serri Design didn't impress me

Why not? Just wondering because it was something incredible.
I don't know, maybe because I don't like the F111 room. For me AC was best playing Aurora in the standard room at HE 2023 and before.

...I agree, the "secrecy" aspect is secondary to the above technical objectives.
I also agree with what you say, drowning the components in resin certainly gives a great advantage especially in terms of vibration damping and much more. At that point if you want to keep the secret, give up the modules perhaps demanding the return of the broken ones and make them pay 500 euros and not 3000 or rather to be precise 2900 euros..I forgot to say between myth and reality that someone opened the famous modules saving about a ratio of 1/30

It is also way more natural and has more musical resolution
You know the WE did sound better! Maybe my IPad is more resolving than I thought, lol. What the hell was that third track?

Re: FM Acoustics. I had honestly never heard of the brand, even if I have been in this hobby for a long time. The room on Friday was packed the whole time, we had to wait to get in, like there was something really special going on. It was a bit like a cult, people drinking in the words of this founder of the brand. He had some sort of historic rant against Philips and Sony for settling on 44.1 which he said was a bad decision and he seemed to have been there at the time. The sound when they actually were playing music was not to my liking. I am sure this guy is some kind of legend in audio but the sound of the system did not appeal to me at all. What a letdown. Compare this to the MBL Extreme 101 MKII I really liked the sound both times I was in and one time also they had the designer giving a talk. I’ll take the MBL sound over FM every day.
My 2 cents.

Has anyone seen this vid from Munich 2025, it’s funny.
I was in the room with the resonators, I saw them but can’t say I gave them a second glance.

FM always used analog with some very old records for both classical and jazz (many are in mono mode) when I visited them, don’t even know if they ever had digital in their room.

2 and 3 years ago when they brought their flagship system over, I spent 15-20 minutes in their room but because of the music, it gave a false impression about their stuff and actually made the whole system sounds really cheap.

But I’m sure with the right tracks, things could be very different like what happened last Saturday morning. Nevertheless, as I said earlier, it’s not a jaw dropping moment for me or a big wow, I just found out FM can sound that good :).

FM, Goldmund and some other brands like Kharma are famous among audiophile communities in Asia. Like many other products, marketing plays a big part in this overhyped area. I have no problem believing they can sound good, but to my taste, that’s a different story. At the end of the day we’re all different anyway and hifi is so subjective. I respect that!

After coming to Munich for almost 20 years, I feel this was the best one in terms of sound quality in my opinion. Of course, this is relatively speaking. Clearly some exhibitors struggle with system set up (not always easy in Munich)

I only attended for two days this year (Saturday and Sunday) and did not go to Hifi Deluxe.

The biggest obstacle for me to asses music is besides my biases, lack of time and far from perfect ears, was music selection particularly when tracks stuck me as not particularity well recorded or wrong volume (too loud or, more rarely, too low).

I will start off with the rooms that disappointed me the most - this included Zellaton (usually one of my favourite rooms). Gobels with Riviera and Wadax (I like Riviera amps, but the music was better last year with Pilium), Tune Audio (the smaller speakers last year played better, perhaps a volume issue this year). Audiovector (I usually like their rooms). Gershman (last year was better) and I also did not like the small Wolf von Langa. The Kondo room was playing music uselessly low when I was there.

My assessment is versus my expectations as opposed to insinuating these were the worst rooms.

Among the rooms that were most improved for me was Aries Cerat (but with breathtakingly ugly speakers) while I have never heard the Engstrom amps play so well as with Kroma speakers in what was one of my favorite rooms. The Alsylvox for me was best ever this year in both rooms with Soulution and Thuono. Marten speakers sounded better than ever even though the Coltrane Quintet Extreme is quite big speaker. ESD was also much improved (not hard to), but still not something I would recommend.

Among the rooms that remained my favourites from last year were Rockport (with Absolare), Magico (the S5 room with Wadax complete studio, and the M2 room), Total, VTL with Wilson, Stenheim, Lorenzo and the Kharma room. The MBL room was also good but I must confess I am not the biggest fan of those type of speakers. Quite enjoyed the Thrax room, despite Thrax chaps also clearly being remarkably good at striking their speakers with the ugly stick.

Of the big horn rooms on the ground floor I enjoyed all of them (Silbatone, Acapella, and Cessaro, perhaps Cessaro a tad behind the first two). The best part of Silbatone (and since I have owned a couple of Silbatone amps) was actually the chance to speak with JC Morrison.

Other rooms I quite enjoyed were the Clarysis room as well as the Boressen M2 and Grandinote. I liked the bigger Göbel speakers more than the smaller ones, despite the larger size being a challenge in Munich rooms.

Of speakers by companies that I encountered for the first time I would highlight on the positive side SV Audio, Acora (both rooms), Auer and Qlin (with Vinnie Rossi) while on the negative aide IO Design (although those huge speakers show some promise).

Finally, I really enjoyed a small Eversolo setup in the downstairs hall area.

As a Wadax Studio owner, it did not surprise me to see so many Wadax players around.

These were my good and bad highlights based on what I heard.

Thank you for the report. One poster was gushing about the orchestral realism of the ESD setup, but there are dissenting voices including yours. Why would you not recommend the ESD sound?

Although I did not attend the show this year for various reasons I do enjoy reading the different opinions of the same rooms. It always amuses me to see the same gear be the best and the worst at the same time. I personally enjoy RG's viewpoints even if I don't always agree. I am sure the MSM will be coming along telling us all how great the usual suspects were but IMO they are having less and less influence.
These mega buck systems always bring out the best and the worst of opinions. AHHH the contradiction LOL

in Italy we have a saying: it's not some beautiful thing that's beautiful, but what you like is beautiful. in fact, if we all had the same opinion, everything would be deadly boring.

of course however it is always funny/interesting to see something be called great and horrible in the same sentence.
I get a kick out of it.

The system did scale up the sound well (and was less boomy than last year) but still not the most natural in my opinion when compared to the other big horn rooms. They seemed less coherent than the other big horns. It was nevertheless a step forward from last two years.
