The post you’re responding to, imho, shouldn’t be taken seriously as it’s part of a long line of ignorant attacks (and usually followed by smiley emojis for some reason).
I tried the taiko DAC and it wasn't for me , I'm told with 400 hours of break in it really shines . Problem is I couldn't listen that long . I did get around to hooking up my horizon 360 with KBL XDMI cable and was very impressed. Taiko is supposed to release a v2 DAC card , I would be willing to try at that time .
I agree. I've tried quite a bit of digital - including Taiko and I'm currently loving the Pink Faun.
No way would I ever trust ANY company with my money for 2 years before delivery. I'm not suggesting anything illegal - just that I wouldn't trust any company or the pace of advancement to wait 2 years to get something I needed to pay for up front.
Hahahaha. dCS is not my cup of tea , taste and preference wise. But I greatly respect them as engineers. Look at how huge those boxes are for taiko olympus - made by a semi-clueless DIY guy, vs the size of dCS
From past experience dcs is closer to cascade digital then past experience of Msb sel 2.
it’s more of micro details where sel was more tube less detailed in a neutrality way
I think Wadax broke the past and current experience of digital representation.
it’s not as any digital representation I can imagine.
Lastly Msb and it seems taiko are on an endless journey of this is now and Wait till the new improvements come out.
really how can someone pay ultra high cost and as it arrives it’s old news. Where is the feel good part start and last at all.
Msb is an admired brand I agree but things move too fast and future promises of upgrades are false promises most times
think sel 1 no one talks about that product
odd to me.
How much money waisted so quickly
anyone in design of digital knows the elephant in the room.
source so how many years before Msb finally made a product to fix this ??
Then only make the product for current products that are out there as new products are also available now. And then we’ll sorry your new old digital director can’t work on new or most any other non Msb products
I think in honesty Wadax while Uber expensive still is a product that was made and completed then sold.
going back to the compare that I felt should not have happened still shows me Wadax makes a product that’s finished in that add on upgrades are just that an add on if one of wants too.
it’s a one box and your done if you want to.

You may not be aware of the circumstances behind their delivery delays?
In short, they had an avalanche of orders for the Olympus, and if not for some insane misfortune (completely out of Taiko’s control) with their anodizing sources, they would have delivered all the orders many months ago. This kind of sh-t happens in the real world.
My personal experience with the people at Taiko is there is no one more trustworthy and innovative in the industry.
As for the analog out card, combined with the Olympus, it has provided the best sound quality I’ve ever heard here (and I have owned some uber dacs).

Wil , I know people have sold their DACS in favor of the analog card . Almost all stated it took a long break in period . I'm curious which DACS you have had ? I currently have the Horizon 360 and MSB Cascade

Pre-paying 2 years in advance tens-of-thousands of dollars to a person or company - regardless of how trustworthy they are to receive years in the future what is then outdated tech just does not sound like a logical choice in my opinion.
What happens if he gets hit by a bus tomorrow?
Did anyone expect Dartzeel to go under like they did?
Things happen. I would never tie up my money as such when I can buy and receive something today that is using newer technology than what the Taiko is built on. Just my personal opinion. I've heard from a lot of friends with orders for Taiko's who wish they could get their money back but alas they are not allowed to.
With all those back orders and delays you would think they'd allow you to get a refund. Just my personal opinion.
I doubt this is only about a chemical applied to alum , is there no other option to get this done
Two years , next is how many 10 -20 ,100 really lets get more realistic .
how about black chemical blackening or even paint . 2 years is longer then 10 years in the digital world. Intel chips and main Boards evolve in 6 months
and when it does arrive how many new features are not installed yet.
...are we sure about all the facts here? Two years? Mine was almost a year. Too long, for sure. But I'm not sure it's two years, is it? Not defending a protracted delivery, as I have been critical of it myself, BTW.
And I also find the no-refund comment a surprise. Has someone who actually asked for a refund been denied? I assumed if I wanted my money back 6-8 months into the wait, that it would have been given. I thought about it, but decided to hold-on.
My understanding is it uses a 90's Delta Sigma design with window dressing. That would be fine at least if it sounded great. In my PERSONAL opinion - and as others have posted here as well - many feel the sound can be bettered. I've head Taiko quite a bit and had the ability for extensive comparisons.
I think all that would be fine if you at least were able to get it in a timely manner. If it takes a year +, then that is a LONG time in digital world and it's outdated.
If they claim you wait 1+ years and will get the "latest" design, how do you know you'll like how it sounds as you are buying it without hearing what it is?
Plus I've owned digital gear with software hiccups - no thank you. I don't want to wonder if I'll be able to listen to music when I turn my system on or if I'll be fighting with it to try and get sound. Been there, done that.
Again, these are just personal opinions and I know there are people who do like how they sound. The software bugs and year+ wait - and having to prepay -IMO are pretty big hurdles. If I wouldn't prepay for special production Audi and BMW's when I ordered them, I sure as heck wouldn't do it with a small time audio company.
...I don't recall any Olympus bugs. The XDMS control app was limited, but also not required to run the Extreme. The Olympus up-front was a deposit, not full-payment, unless something changed. Also, there was a 100% credit for the Extreme if you were trading up to the Olympus. Again, the wait was/is too long for some options, but the above noted was my experience/understanding. Best...
I totally agree and all of the mental and financial drama is totally avoided in a wadax product . The thread should be a wadax compare to cascade maybe .

Its obvious your not an MSB fan. I've owned the MSB Select 2 for quite a while now and simply love it. Every software update which was not a lot, improved its sound and the icing on the cake was the director. I have no interest in the Cascade.

The one I recently heard was well broken in, I am told. I just didn't care for it. It sounded like really bad solid state - analytical and lifeless but had "great imaging" (like my buddy's DIY stand mounts). Amateurish!
As for the new one, you never know. This is an experiential hobby. It could be good. But from what I have seen from these guys, I wouldn't bet on it. But you never know - never hurts to try.
