Anyone have any thoughts on the Mapleshade releases?
You can now download a couple of their releases via itunes. I recently downloaded
'13 shades of Blue, Best of Mapleshade Vol 2' and it is very fine via applelossless.
I wander if any other a'phile labels are going to go the download route?

Near Atlanta, GA but not too near!
Many years ago I purchased a bunch of their music. Way too much of it, to my ears, is recorded very hot -- and that was listening in a way too over damped room on very "subdued" speakers. It's been a while but if I recall it was the mids and upper mids that, too my ears, was overly aggressive. things may have changed since then but that was my experience on the maybe 20 or so CDs I purchased from them!

I ordered a jazz cd from smallslive.com the other day and when you order the cd you get the download along with the cd. they give you an access code and password to download the cd within like 72 hours of your purchase.

You can now download lossless files from iTunes? I hope this extends to non "audiophile" recordings.

I got a few years ago from Pierre. The best of the bunch were The Mellow Side of Clifford Jordan, CJ Live at Ethels, Euforia and Art of the Ballad. But totally agree that the recordings have a bit of hardness. Also they tend to be closely miked-not much in the way of ambiance as I remember (it's been a while since last listened to them).
