Forgive if this has been posted, but I just caught Kal's review of the latest 800D's. Pretty nice...

I struggled between 801's and my Maggies back in the late 80's, and have been a fan of B&W for ages, both for their sound and technical focus (they were crossing the country showing off their laser interferometry system back then).

For the longest tine I've had this hunch that B&W, for all their techical might, are going down a dead-end street with their choice of Kevlar weave. There just have to be extra degrees of freedom among the woven fibers and I suspect that this is what is seen in CSD plots as "hash" in the midrange. Maybe this was what they were trying to get rid of by eliminating the surround altogether in their latest Kevlar weave mid - apparently it didn't work.
