I just saw a clearance exception and called FedEx customs clearance immediately (800-249-2953), thankfully the hold time was just couple of minutes. They asked me to fill the CBP5106 form (which I assume is because my Tax Id was not in the system), but to my surprise they also asked me to fill TSCA form (apparently it was flagged for battery's) and I was asked to 'self-certify' that I knew what I was importing. Putting it here, just in case anyone else is facing something similar. The agent was quite helpful and sent the Docusign forms while I was on the line and offered to help me fill them.

They said it will be another 24-48 hours before it will move (if nothing else is flagged).

Im enjoying my Olympus. It is sounding spectacular every day. One question I have about the BMS app is just like XDMI has the ability to set the battery charge time. I am not seeing that for the SYSTEM. That seems to be on charge whenever I use. Is that right?

That's correct. SYSTEM needs to charge full time, so no charge time settings are possible.

If I have a DAC that only goes up to 24/96 and no DSD,can I store higher resolution PCM files and even DSD files on the NAS for the Olympus to convert to 24/96 right into my DAC for listening?

It's dependent upon whether the DAC down samples higher resolution PCM files, not the Olympus. DSD wont be handled by your DAC under any circumstances. However, you can also configure Roon to down sample the files, as well as convert DSD to PCM. Going the Roon route requires additional processing power that could impact SQ. All this said, why don't you use the analogue out card instead of what seems to be a rudimentary DAC that isn't taking advantage of XDMI?

You will either have to setup Roon to downsample or you will have to use other tools to downsample offline to rates your DAC accepts. You could also look to see if streaming sources such as Quobuz or Tidal have the same albums (but at the lower rates). Downsampling with Roon will be the least preferred way from a SQ perspective.

Understood, you will then have to try and downsample offline and compare those with downsampling with Roon and go from there.

Streaming Qobuz continues to sound better than files played from my local Synology NAS (FLAC and DSD). I can't prove provenance of the masters, nevertheless, it is a repeatable trend when comparing version options of most any recording.

A word of wisdom — always, I mean always, sign the freight delivery bill, even if the package appears perfect, with “no visible damage - subject to inspection” because a clean signature absolves the company of liability. (It makes getting a claim paid much, much harder.) And if there is any visible sign of damage be sure to notate the freight bill NEVER sign a bill without notating any visible or potential damage.

Subject to my prior post, I had to be a little creative. The new digital signatures (vs old school delivery papers) make it a little tough to sign with an exception. The driver had to call his office, and there is a way for the driver to take photos of any damage. Since the shrink-wrap was torn up, he didn't balk at making the exception notes in his little handheld computer.

To ensure I had documentation of my own, I took photos of the package and of the driver taking pictures too. He showed me the photos in his system.

Fortunately, I was able to quickly get my fork-blades on the tractor and lift the skid out of the truck. The driver was saying "I don't know how much 64kg equals, but its probably more than 100 lbs." (remember what I said about driver IQs!)

Remember, never sign a clean delivery, particularly with "dangerous goods" of high value. In the event you find damage, this will greatly assist getting a freight claim paid.

I don't expect to find any damage. I hope everything goes smoothly for fellow Taiko brethren with pending deliveries. Mine wasn't scheduled until tomorrow, I thought the driver was bringing a wine delivery!

Looks like you go the Pallet and the strap intact. Mine was just a case with shrink wrap.

When I tried Qobuz using Roon on the Extreme Server yesterday, I also saw a quick flash of the Red banner with the text Page Not Loading, after which the page loaded and everything worked normally. I thought it was a fluke or a coincidence. But when I tried it again just now, it followed the same routine. A quick banner flash, but working normally thereafter.

Furthermore, the Grimm MU1 server exhibits the same behavior. Thus, it does indeed appear to be a regional issue. (I am in the Netherlands)

I think it's unlikely that the issue lies with the Roon software itself, but more likely with the integration of Qobuz data into it, or perhaps, the gathering and processing of this data on Qobuz or Roon servers. It's worth posting in the Roon thread linked by Blue58 to ensure the issue gets Roon's attention.

I wanted to highlight that the analog card inherently improves with extended use. You’ll start to notice remarkable transformations in just the first few hours and days, with even more enhancements revealing themselves in the months to come.

Hi all,

I have finally swapped the daughter card to AES digital out. Its half an hour job and no rocket science. I am 200% no regret for swapping the card. It makes me so happy and learn more about how great the olympus server is. The sound is so good and all the music i heard reassured the money I paid for the olympus. Thanks Taiko for this great machine. Absolutely No. 1!!!!!!!!

By the way, its work perfectly with my totaldac dac system. Its so perfect. Thanks Vincent for the totaldac dac i have got. Also thanks for Ben Lau for the guidance for swapping the cards.
