Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

Recurrent query for others here.

Do people feel there's any negative impact to having album art embedded in local FLAC/DSF/WAV files? Searching the forums it seems that @Taiko Audio had album art embedded in PGGB files before.

I have been embedding but would need to redo the 50% of my library I've laboriously tagged if there's found to be negative SQ....

Vassil is assisting....New update perhaps has something going on...

Beer or bullets will resolve most issues in life. Sometimes both ;)
I concur with Markus on target choice however.

A lot of my files have album art embedded. I have no desire to redo any of them so I will just live with the results. I don’t understand why it would matter but we know everything can have an effect.

One thing to be rest assured with is Vassil knows the Olympus "Extremely" well! Wow! I tried everything but he broke it down further and I think with his help the BMS is now stable again! Very impressive...

Let me phrase it another way. He knows the unit inside, out, and everything in between!

...Glad you're getting help from V. I have found I need to be right next to the Olympus to pair, FWIW...as you likely know. Good luck JohnT.

PS: if you do decide to shoot your tablet, please video. Don't shoot the server!
Agree with Markus.. The finish is to hard to replicate.

I, heeding those who claimed this, ordered my Olympus without internal storage. Keep in mind that this also introduces new variables into the equation:
1.- Does the network cable that connects the NAS to the router matter?…..YES
2.- Does the power supply that powers the NAS matter ?……YES
So, do you have recommendations for a linear power supply? I have the Taiko router and switch(plus dedicated power supply)but the router upstream and NAS have ordinary switching power. I heard Taiko was working on a dedicated power supply that could run both routers, the switch, and the NAS?
To the guy who talked about taking out the 9mm-I am glad I am not the only one who gets really angry at my audio gear when it inexplicably just fails. The Olympus happens to be working perfectly but I have a Pink Faun at home that I honestly wanted to execute two nights ago. I would likely use the 357 though to make a point.

...oh definitely video that @Billygxx

I recently added the new JS-4 power supply from Uptone Audio. Cool. Quiet. Sounds great. Powering Taiko switch, modem and Synology NAS via Taiko DCD. And Alex C. is great to deal with.

A few weeks ago I acquired a Sean Jacobs mini ARC6 DC4 to power the DCD/router. Although it is still burning in, the improvement has been revelatory. Image density, dimensionality, dynamics, and frequency extension have all been increased. I wasn't expecting this much. Improving the power to the router is a must. Our good friend Vassil built mine and I believe supplies the US market as well.

Hi Taiko, it is Max here. Thanks for the delivery of the Olympus server. It works great and provide great sound for my enjoyment. My machine came with the preinstalled Analog Card and now may be the time for me to change the Daughter Card to AES Digital output to test the ultimate sound of this machine. I noticed that you have the guide for replacement in the manual. However, I found that you used to provide a Video on youtube to show user how to change the network card. Will you consider to provide similar video to show the user for the replacement. Also more important is any softwares setting required after the replacement? It is a great machine and I don't want to take any risk for replacing the daughter.

Hi Max, Thank you for your feedback! I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the server.

I wanted to highlight that the analog card inherently improves with extended use. You’ll start to notice remarkable transformations in just the first few hours and days, with even more enhancements revealing themselves in the months to come.

We plan to create more videos in the future, but our immediate focus is on production.

Rest assured, XDMI is straightforward—the cards are designed to be plug-and-play, eliminating the need for any software changes when you switch them out.

Nevertheless, don't hesitate to contact us if you have questions.

We'd love to hear your impressions after you've swapped the cards!

My wish:
1. Turn off OS.
2. Turn off rear mains switch.
3. After 45 seconds, the Olympus automatically goes into shipping mode.

It's to late for a button on the back you push after all lights go out.

This has been requested before and was added to the wishlist. Can't make any promises, though.

Yeah.. I know...
It's nuts around here in Florida.
I live in the lightning capital of the country.. lost power last night.. Not fun..

For the clueless (me), Can you explain exactly why you want this feature?

What were you using previously?
I had tried the following:

Stock wall wart: Pretty dirty up top. Even with the DCD.
Linear Tube Audio LPS ($700): Conventional audio grade LPS. Kind of luke warm and rounded sound.
Antipodes S60 ($2000): Hybrid SW/Linear for digital server. Aggressive in the upper mids. Not really for analog devices. Had to try it as I own it.
Lead-Acid battery: From the junk pile. Nasty direct, but the DCD really helped. Best sound of this group. Blacker. More resolved.

So not the leading edge of technology as compares. The SJ is much higher cost, and one of the best ones out there.
Maybe someone can do a direct compare with the JS-4?
