Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

Strange. Myself and many others are missing Playlists...Maybe Regional?

I had not been using my playlists. I just checked and they are all intact. So yes, maybe regional.

As far as I know, Roon doesn't have regional differences in its core software. Although, obviously, its language fork and content rules are location based. But the type of code that would integrate with providers is likely in the core. Of course, I have no special insight into their software, so it's still possible the language fork/country rules are causing the inconsistencies being described. But if you're using Roon in the same country with the same language, the only reason for differences in behavior is your local environment. For example, in the case of playlists, it could have to do with whether you backed up or not. Some updates destroy personalized settings and rely on backup files.

When I tried Qobuz using Roon on the Extreme Server yesterday, I also saw a quick flash of the Red banner with the text Page Not Loading, after which the page loaded and everything worked normally. I thought it was a fluke or a coincidence. But when I tried it again just now, it followed the same routine. A quick banner flash, but working normally thereafter.

Furthermore, the Grimm MU1 server exhibits the same behavior. Thus, it does indeed appear to be a regional issue. (I am in the Netherlands)

I think it's unlikely that the issue lies with the Roon software itself, but more likely with the integration of Qobuz data into it, or perhaps, the gathering and processing of this data on Qobuz or Roon servers. It's worth posting in the Roon thread linked by Blue58 to ensure the issue gets Roon's attention.

I've been seeing the red flashing banner fairly often for a week now, I'd estimate. But it is just a brief flash and then Roon is back in action. The annoying stoppages of play when using Qobuz seem no more frequent, however, averaging ~1 per day. Sure hope Taiko can figure that one out. I so seldom experienced such with the Extreme, but it is a regular "What the hell?" moment with the Olympus + I/O. Sure, it's a simple fix to press Play again, but...the flow is lost.

If it's possible, see if the Taiko folks can put your tax ID or SSN on the import document, to preempt FedEx asking you to fill out the customs ID document. That could possibly save you a bunch of time.
Thanks, I have done that. Today I received FedEx tracking with expected delivery this Friday. I hope customs goes smooth
It took about 20 days between leaving for DG and me receiving FedEx tracking.

Christian, Vassil: We have been advised that if we are listening to music with the DAC card, we should not have a USB DAC connected, but I imagine that is only the case if the DAC is on, or am I mistaken and we should remove the USB cable from the Olympus regardless of whether the DAC is on.

Prior to Christiaan and Vassil giving you the definitive answer, if I remember Emile's posts correctly, having the USB cable plugged into the bus introduces noise, irrespective of whether the DAC is on or not, or if there is anything on the other end of the cable. The same goes for the router.

The general recommendation is to unplug the USB cable from the Olympus, regardless of whether the DAC is on or off.

But not the same for XDMI from IO to DAC, correct
I gave up USB a long time ago

BTW, for those Lampi , O/IO users who will be attending my event next week we will be doing an A/B between XDMI and USB

When I played around with USB I always kept the habit of shutting down the OS in between going back/forth between USB/XDMI...

I just change the settings through Roon but always have only one or the other cables attached , never both , not even one connected only to the O/IO while the other is in use at both ends

You have to change it in Roon. I think Emile suggested shutting down the OS in between changes. TBH its a mute point as I am enjoying XDMI so much USB is a distant memory...

It seems my Olympus has been in the same batch through “dangerous goods” and I too have received a tracking # from Fedex. As I have tried to do throughout the long lead time, I will remain calm and know that in fact one day the server will arrive. That horizon seems to finally be coming into view. And having spent a few days recently in NYC visiting Rhapsody.Audio and listening to multiple systems all being fed digitally from the Olympus — I/O analog-out, I have listed my Rossini DAC for sale… the nature of the digital presentation was more organic than I’ve heard from any digital source so I’m excited to hear it at home. (But not thrilled about the long run-in process. I’m sure I’ll die one day waiting for some component to finally reach its zenith! Hopefully not this one.)

Mine too! My O and I/O are estimated for delivery on Monday by FedEx. I was holding out for silver but eventually caved and switched to black.

My amplifiers also arrived back from upgrade a couple of day ago (Soulution 701+'s).

Like London busses, you wait ages for one and two turn up together..

Very excited to get eveything plugged together and burned in! All so heavy though...

Im enjoying my Olympus. It is sounding spectacular every day. One question I have about the BMS app is just like XDMI has the ability to set the battery charge time. I am not seeing that for the SYSTEM. That seems to be on charge whenever I use. Is that right?

Well, I suppose its time for me to RTFM!
