Hopkins' System

Thanks, but sensitivity is too low for my amp.
For party you need 50 watt high impedance not lower then 5 ohms.
Tube friendly;)

no impedance peaks in the important area (no ringing). amazing bass performance for the size. the hybrid tweeter dome tweeter 2. 5khz to 15khz, ribbon 15khz to 30khz. Resolution potential is gigantic.

The first LV Auditoriums are basically nothing more than veneered 104s with a pedestal + blu tack:

Thanks for the picture - I was wondering about this. The dealer made it sound like the pedestal was something much more elaborate!

You serious? Where did that info come from?
Have you heard the DALI 104? Though I cannot compare them directly, the similarity in sound signature - judging from memory while I sit listening to the same playlist - is striking. On vocal tracks, for example, I am really getting the same impression of « natural sound ». I am not claiming they will sound as dynamic or resolved as the higher LV models, but I can definitely see the similarity.

Anyway, it is going to be fun tweaking them…

The ECDesigns powerDAC-SX is definitely a very versatile piece of equipment and plays effortlessly with these speakers - the amp’s sound is very hard to criticize - hard to explain…this is something you can only get a sense of by exploring its use with a variety of speakers (and headphones).

Electrolytic cap…yuck!
I have seen worse at a higher price, I did forget to mention that I will be changing it. This is what I am contemplating:
- recabling
- new tweeter and crossover
- cabinet rigidity

Nothing revolutionary, there are a number of online discussions about Dali 104 modifications.

One one speaker, I changed the internal wires, installed bitumen on the inner walls, removed some of the damping material, and changed one of the coils (as I happened to have a better one). Am very pleased with the sound. My girlfriend spontaneously commented that the sound was very nice :)

I will upgrade the other components as I found all the specs.
