High efficiency loudspeakers, 92db plus. Which are your favorites?

What speakers are you referring to?

dipole horndriver, 12" alnico are from famous guitaramps, no xover only single cap horndriver.active ripole bass only few roommodes.
I don't know any other company in the world that does this as when I heard about these prototypes 10 years ago, it was clear that i would build something similar.

My Altec double 15’ woofers in front horn-loaded 817 cabs is about 106dB,
HF portion in multicell horn is slightly higher than that

Don’t forget the 8 ohm impedance with the 106db

What driver do you use for the horn load bass?

Thats right, Altec 515 B are 16 Ohms, so the pair in parallel is 8 Ohm

Apologies for going slightly off-topic but for those of you who own high efficiency speakers (let’s say 100 db and up sensitivity), what music genre do you primarily listen to? I have it in my head that classical is favored, but I don’t have any basis for that opinion.

Primarily singer songwriters whether indie, Americana, folk and plenty of jazz from current Brit jazz to Blue Note/Impulse stalwarts and plenty in between.

Classic rock, Brit pop through the 80/90’s with classical accounting for perhaps 5-10%of my listening. For some reason I tend to need a visual clue for classical like watching the proms or an Opera unless it’s a solo recital.

I haven't listened to very many but I have to mention John DeVore. I heard his O/96s years ago in a small well-treated room and they sounded lovely.
But the O/96 is not over 92dB. They’re actually 91dB. I know this because I owned them and compared their level directly with my other speakers, which have sensitivities of 92.5, 94, and 96dB respectively.

I always wondered about the sensitivity of the O/96 considering they have a 1″ silk-dome tweeter.

These are interesting:

I saw them mentioned by some other forum members and was surprised to see that they have 98db sensitivity.

They are made in Europe - I would be curious to listen to them. 22k€ is way more than I am willing to spend for a pair of speakers, and I am happy with mine, but it is interesting to know what can be achieved with different designs.
