Greetings from Santa Fe, New Mexico!
I'm a new member here, but a long-time audiophile who’s excited to finally engage with a community that shares the same level of passion. After years of private experimentation, I’m ready to share some of the more recent—and surprising—discoveries I’ve made, especially in the realm of power and signal cabling.
I’ve been a dedicated audiophile since 2005, but my journey with sound goes back further. Before parenthood, I worked as a composer, musician, and recording engineer. When my first child was born in 1998, I shifted careers to support my family, starting a painting company—but the love for music and great sound never left.
Over the years, I’ve explored a wide spectrum of gear, from large-scale solid-state systems to flea-watt SET amplification with Altec A7s. I’ve built open baffle speakers, restored vintage gear, and even dabbled in DIY cables. But one consistent element across my setups has been ACROLINK power cables. I've relied on them for years, along with forays into CRL, Furutech, and Harmonic Technology. For the longest time, they seemed like the right balance of performance and value.
However, recent comparisons have shown me just how much is gained by stepping up to the next tier — especially with Shunyata Research, Kubala-Sosna, and Purist Audio Design cables. These newer additions have brought more weight, dimension, and natural tone to my system in ways I didn't expect. Interestingly, I’ve found that while ACROLINK still shines on source components in my setup, the synergy from Shunyata and PAD on amplification has been a true revelation.
I also maintain a “winter system” built around an Art Audio PX25 SET amplifier paired with the open baffle speakers I designed myself — a more intimate, glowing counterpart to my main setup.
I’m looking forward to learning from this community and contributing wherever I can.
Thanks for having me, Ramon
