I'm the new 2nd owner of a Helene DAC.

Anyway I have quite a bit of DSD music I need to convert to PCM for playback since the Helene don't support DSD files.

I can use my Antipodes server to convert DSD on the fly to PCM but that's probably not the best for maximum SQ?

I'm thinking of using offline conversion software PGGB. Do you have a recommended conversion that works best with the Helene? The software will convert up to 384Khz 32bit for DSD.

Some people say 88.2/96khz is all I need but wouldn't the highest be best? File storage is not an issue. Looking for the best quality I can get.

Thanks

Hello
In test we found DSD to sound better when converted to PCM and then converted by R2R ladder dac than native.
Of course it is personal opinion, but we stand by it.
Of course depends on the quality of the conversion to PCM.
Depending on DSD rate, i would not go crazy with PCM sampling rate.
From experience with most DSD recordings, they are the equivalent of 96/192Khz,

One more question. 24bit or 32bit best for the Helene?

I’d give both a try — in most test situations, I doubt you’d be able to tell them apart.
