Has anyone moved on from idlers, Garrards??

oh yes. quite essential. as per Galibier paradigm, one is trying to get rid of any elasticity in the mix. once i did that, leaving only the belt as a point of elasticity (and with linen even that is very limited), the system came to life.
So what is the plinth is sitting on?
BTW, i used to own both Verdier and Galibier.
As my 3rd TT now, i have Verdier in Steve Dobbins plinth

How did you like Galibier? What do you listen to as #1 right now?

My platine is a granite version. It sits on cms ls2.25 footers and then onto a sheet of granite which itself sits on 4 Les Davis constrained layer pads. The shelf is just top of a credenza.

Which Galibier model did you have? I have a Galibier Gavia in my system.

I think Galibier is a great TT, I had to sell it to get and Air Force 3.
The only TT I regret selling was the Verdier, Granito version like yours. I've had it converted to a battery power, and replaced springs with a more rigid version. I wish I'd kept it.
I mentioned modified Verdier in Dobbins 2 tonearms plinth I have as a spare now, i drove it with Dereneville motor- excellent table, but I will probably sell it as I don't have enough space for all 3 tables, the other one being SpJ LaLuce.
My main TT now is Melco 3560, all original. I have two arms on it- all stock SME 3012R with TechDas TDC 01 Ti cart and Richard Mak restored FR-66S with SPU 95 Anniversary

And you also have Acoustical Systems SDP kit on yours? How do you compare it to an original platter?

I don't even own/plan to own a turntable, but, for some odd reason, I love reading threads like these. Cheers.

I’ve never heard the original platter. Armpods too tall to try it. I generally don’t think aluminum sounds good so I think I’m ok with this arrangement. I actually only just took the copper mat I was using off. I’m surprised how much better it is without the copper.

Got it

What does the melco have that the platine or Galibier does not?

Its a high mass design, so:
Great speed stability, bass, refinement, resolution and overall very ‘calm” rendition without any artifacts.
Its very simple design, 3 arms capacity, there is absolutely nothing to tweak, set and forget affair

Any pictures of that Melco. Don't see too many of these great vintage tables.
