Melco and Dava

you running belt?
Yes, tried different threads and there is a certain amount of slippage resulting in less than ideal speed stability.
None of it with belt. I got it from DDK and he thinks belt is very close to thread sound wise

what is distance from side of platter to center of pulley pls?

that Melco is crazy beautiful. i love that massive weight. it is just so OTT.

how do you rate the Derenville motor? i am looking to get a new motor for my Platine. i have built an AC motor and it sounds great. i presume there is more to get from a motor like the Dereneville or Galibier though?

I’m also interested in an aftermarket motor for future project - looking at this one if anyone knows it, would be great to hear your thoughts

That is in line with my experience. I only tried a few threads but a high quality belt is better sounding.

I know Basis made some superprecision belts, but where can one get something like that, but longer?
I use Transrotor Lang belt. I’m sure there are better options but it ticked all the boxes for me because it doesn’t over stretch or deteriorate over the years, it has a small diameter, doesn’t change elasticity between summer and winter etc.

I found this

@Maril555 did you use mylar or tape when you had the Galibier or was that thread too at that time? i am thinking about moving from thread to tape and so am interested if anyone has any experience.

Ive tried different distances, starting with 1 m that Melco recommends to about 1 ft, same results.
I should try different threads material, as i got a feeling Kevlar thread is too slippery

Dereneville is great, has 4 speeds and very user friendly, tons of different functions
