New Speakers replacement for Koda ?
Hah!They read that Marty and LLoyd, and maybe Abeidrov bought the Mephisto and announced a new amp to tease them for next year upgrade
That should be enough to drive the Alexx or XVX or ANY speaker with no problems. Might need to upgrade the wiring in the house to 8 gauge from the panel to the amp.WOW! Quite an interesting amp...450 pounds in weight for the single-chassis stereo amp and 900 pounds for the monos! 1 million microfarads of capacitance for the stereo and 2 million microfarads for the monos. Looks like 225 watts pure Class A Watts into 8 ohms...and then 225 watts doubles all the way down to 1 ohm 1800 watts...and knowing Gryphon (and based on their other amps), it doubles again into 1/2 ohm so 3600 watts into 1/2 ohm Should be spectacular.
Amazing amp ,It has always been a good idea to build the power supply of an amplifier in such a way that the amplifier does not notice the connected load (loudspeaker) or something changes.WOW! just what we needed - more $250k/pair amps lol
What you need is a high eff / high imp speaker design( non horn ) then you can have all the gryphon goodies with an essence.just what we needed - more $250k/pair amps lol
I agree. I can't even imagine what this hobby is going to look like in another 10 years. Seems like 50K amps will be considered "budget" gearjust what we needed - more $250k/pair amps lol
They look to be 240 volt 20A per channel. Thats equivalent to 40 amps per channel in 120 volt. And you avoid the requirement for AFCI breakers. If your subpanel was 20 feet away 10 awg would be fine. That should be enough to drive the Alexx or XVX or ANY speaker with no problems. Might need to upgrade the wiring in the house to 8 gauge from the panel to the amp.

I can't even imagine what a 450 lb amp looks like, but I know my room cannot accommodate the crane you will probably need to move them. Nice to see Gryphon evolve after Flemming's retirement.PS: Leave Marty alone. I bet his back is hurting right now just imagining the size and weight of the Apex!
I foresee a future where amp manufacturers will add speaker cables that come standard with these ampsI can't even imagine what a 450 lb amp looks like
I was just thinking ahead to the next generation of speaker where the minimum impedance is 0.25 ohms and stays below 1.5 ohm for much of the frequency range. There seems to be a trend of lower and lower impedance in speaker design where the designers are relying far too much (IMHO) on brutish amplifiers to be able to drive them. Also, the quoted (2.83V) sensitivity rating is extremely misleading for these low impedance speakers.I think Mephisto monos already were able to drive any loudspeaker with no problem.
