Well, two days have passed and I think I can finally give my opinion. First, I should mention that I'm not good at describing sound like critics do, but here goes…Please share your thoughts regarding the Commander with the Essence once you’ve had a chance to listen for a while.
In symphonic music, there's a noticeable increase in the "density of sound"—that is, there's "more" of the orchestra, not that it's louder, but there's more of the orchestra. The harshness I sometimes perceived in masses of violins or in violins in string quartets disappears, I suppose because the preamp distortion is much lower. The soundstage is clearly improved in width and height. Finally, there's a sense of ENERGY in the music; it's not that it's loud, but that it's vibrant and full, and at the same time very refined. In short, even though I shed a tear when I look at my bank account, I'm very happy.
