I’ve had one of those Feastrex amps.. really impressive sound for a push pull using rather simple tubes (same Finemet iron cores I use in my own products)If it weren't for the price, I could live with that sounds really good

Cost cutting, laziness, and ignorance. This experience once more made it clear to me field coil is in my future...
Klangfilm Europa Junior (1930-ies) at BAM 2025...what has gotten into mankind to leave that path ;-)
I agree. In my experience field coil doesnt automatically make every driver a winner, but it certainly provides benefits. At the price points and amount of technology and price points some driver designs already possess.. adding field coil is not *that* complicated or expensive.Cost cutting, laziness, and ignorance.
Every speaker that sells for over $50K should be field coil. Permanent magnets offer No value beyond cost and space savings.
Alnico does, and you need someone to remag it. Buying ferrite or neodymium should be fine. Also will matter if buying vintage, not for those who are buying new drivers unless they are think their children and grandkids are going to want the speakers. Also, permanent magnets lose their magnetism over time, correct?
Well … I sure hope that in room was significantly more efficacious that the audio vid , which sounds like elevator Muzak !This experience once more made it clear to me field coil is in my future...

If you think Kraftwerk is muzak that is your opinion, you do not have to listen to it ;-)Well … I sure hope that in room was significantly more efficacious that the audio vid , which sounds like elevator Muzak !

They actually were amongst the pioneers of electro and techno.
With the number of magnets needed this would be pretty impracticalI wonder if anybody will ever do a field coil full range ribbon speaker. Clarysis calling?
Maybe somebody has but I haven't heard about it.
Only ALNICO and only if you hit it with large pulses. A lot of the old PA and theater speakers probably need a recharge because they were driven hard. Home use speakers don’t see much as levels are significantly lower. Also, permanent magnets lose their magnetism over time, correct?
Try to listen to the Classic Audio Loudspeakers Field Coils the T3.4 is very nice for its size. This experience once more made it clear to me field coil is in my future...
