Esoteric D1XSE Review

When you demo'd the K1XSE was it with the matching PS1 power supply? I've found power supplies to be the key ingredient in audio which is what I like about the K1X + PS1 combo. The D1XSE only gives the option for its internal PSU.
Yes ... I think the key is the mono dacs provides more benefit in this case than the seperate power supply, although the circuit layout is slightly different in the D1XSE also so its difficult to know which is more of a factor. My guess is its the combination of the two.

I love my N1T. By far the best I’ve heard so far and that by a long shot. I believe one reason the N1T sounds better than lots of similar streams is because there are no extras built in like: a small screen to see which track that’s playing, no extras inputs, use of fiber optics and SFP directly in, great physical isolation and I’m sure there are others I’ve not listed.

Concerning streams or DACs with built in preamps, I’ve never heard a combo yet that sounded as good as a DAC and preamp combo. They can sound excellent but the preamp just gives the system more breathing room. And the preamp will have a power supply that just supplies its power.

Yes that should be excellent. Esoteric builds great equipment. I’d like to hear their D1XSE with the rest of my Esoteric gear. Right now I’m using the Lampizator H360, soon to be the Aphrodite. I know my H360 never sounded so good as with the N1T.
