* Did you watch a film last night (on Blu or DVD), and what was it? *

I watched Hostel 3 last night. Bizzare movie to say the least.

* It started pretty good, but I wanted more laughs.
Nonetheless I enjoyed it; and the picture & sound quality are impeccable!
Great cast, but not exploited to their full potential IMO.

And wow, the colors and details of onscreen photography is to die for! ...And I truly mean that.
I'm a big Tim Burton's fan.

Did I mention that Eva Green is in it! ...And few other beauties as well; younger, same age, and older. Like I already said; this flick could have been so much more. It is still fine the way it is though.
Also starring: Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter, Bella Heathcote, Jackie Earle Haley, Chloe Grace Moretz, Jonny Lee Miller, Christopher Lee & Alice Cooper.

And the music tunes are a real blast from the past!

'Enemy at the Gates' on Blu-ray.

Great movie, terrifying to me, did a great job of conveying the milieu.

-----Yes indeed, it is a great War flick, with an interesting plot (some real facts too), and good performances by the actors.

The funniest thing though is this; some reviewers are totally out of it (they don't pay attention, or they watch movies on their iPhones!), because their reviews of this flick on Blu-ray are missing the mark by a very large margin.
This Blu-ray right now is only few bucks (less than ten), and it's a true gem, a real bargain! :b

And I can tell you honestly that my Blu-ray version is a very nice improvement over my DVD version. This is a case here where you must trust Bob (me) more than the pro reviewers at Blu-ray Forum and at High-Def Digest Forum. :b ...And AVS Forum too.
...And there are many more cases like that (often where they rated the video and audio quality way over their heads!), where it seems that they aren't paying any attention at all or that they're just too tired of watching too many movies!

You know, watching movies is like listening to music; you do for too long in one session (per day), and you totally lost the real 'flow', if you know what I mean.
Fatigue is a real thing in life. After two hours or three max of watching a flick that should be it (per day).
Your eyes can take so much from a screen reproducing moving pictures.
And your ears have their limit too regarding being sound blasted!
But some of these reviewers watch two, three or more flicks a day! Not good at all!
And the next day they are totally burned out, but they keep going at it!
Why? That's their crazy job! ...Totally wrongly done!

If you don't relax with movies and music, your judgement is severely affected.
...Same with people who work overtime to earn more money.
Yeah, they do make more money, but the work's performance takes a real beating though!

* I enjoyed it. I was entertained, and for me that's good enough. :b

Plus on top of that the picture and sound quality are first rate!
New stuff (special effects) that is cutting edge right now, and very clean and detailed moving pictures.

The music soundtrack is great as it perfectly matches the on-screen action.

It ain't the kind of "WOW" flick, but it for sure makes you appreciate what's done behind the scenes, and Ridley keeping up with the latest technologies.

Overall I recommend it very much so.

- I will watch the 3D version eventually. ...It supposed to be well done too. :b

I'll be sure to pass along that information Bob!

Just because you don't like a review doesn't invalidate theirs. Geez!

---'Jaws' on Blu-ray; did you see it?

* Ralph Potts from over at AVS Forum gave it a 100% for both Picture and Sound!!!
Are you nuts or what!

'North by Northwest' on Blu-ray; did you see it?

* That is a not bad at all transfer considering the year when it was made (1959).
Should it be compared with today's advancements though? ...Regarding picture and sound quality technologies.

John, you can pass anything along that you wish for. :b ...Because I would if I could.
And we both are free to agree or disagree with anyone we wish to.
Does it mean that we are right, or wrong? Of course not, but simply that we have our own individual opinion, and about people too. That is our freedom of choice.

* Just this morning I received a PM from one member who disagrees with one of my comments made a month ago or so. ...Regarding this very same thread here, and about one actor in a movie.
And I know why, and I explained to him. Everything in life is up to him.
Words are very easy to weight from your own scale. But to find out their true balance, sometimes requires few questions. If you don't you swim in an invisible ocean.
Anyway ...

* Paid only ten bucks for it; that's the only reason.
Didn't turn me on at all! ...I even fell asleep!  :(

Go ahead, watch it and see if you agree with me. ;):D

North by Northwest is a great movie. The music that introduces the movie, the cinematography, the acting (Grant and Mason, especially), and plot are excellent. The romantic interludes with Eve are a little boring, but it gave me the taste for a Gibson.

-----I fully agree with you Mike; and the Blu-ray is very good. thumbsup.gif

* "A Gibson"; a guitar?

Watched "Splice" on Sony OLED glasses. Enjoyable variation on the Frankenstein theme. Adrian Brody as mad scientist. Sexy beast that goes maniac metrosexual at the end.

Love North by Northwest, one of my faves, thoroughly American excellent paranoid fantasy.

-----The reviewer over at Blu-ray Forum gave that flick a 4 out of 5!

Me (I got that Blu; paid only $3 or so way back then), I give it a 0.5 out of 5! :b
...And I believe that I'm generous.

* See how can one opinion to the next varied so much.
But I am also convinced that most people rated that flick very near the bottom, just like I did myself. I would love to know more opinions from our members on that particular flick;
the ones who saw it anyway.
And I certainly don't recommend it to the people who have never seen it, even as a free rental! :D
