That was OK for a philosophical "science-fiction"* flick. :b ...Click it if you feel like it.

* Meaning "over-the-top" reality. ...But in truth it is an Outdoor Thriller, with a philosophical twist.

Other than the physical attributes and skills of the leading lady (Gina Carano), not my selection for best of anything. In fact, the four of us that watched it at the end all looked at each other and scratched our heads !!

oh my word...i actually bought this movie for 2 bucks...and i am a huge action flick fan...and i told my fiancee...if it accidentally tipped over and fell in the bin...i might actually not pick it up out of the bin! (of course i would...but seriously, it was incredibly disappointing.)

For the number of A-listers, Stephen Soderberg directing, Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas, i means seriously, the list goes on...and i cannot believe i felt like half the time, i was watching someone run down an alleyway looking over his/her shoulder...yes, we get it!...you're running away from someone who is behind you...now move on to actually DO something! ok...rant over. i ended up watching the last half of the movie in 10-15 minutes just to see how it ended. My fiancee had already moved on to wash dishes...

Click on it if you feel like it! ^ ...And what was I thinking! :D ...Stupid adventure fun from Spielberg/Lucas company? ;) :D

* What they did is to simply recreate again the first original one; the plot, the effects, and the entire story! ...Total lack of imagination from these two multi-millionaires, and artificial luminaries!

- Paramount has delivered a fine quality picture; but the disc is flaw somehow, eg.; when you switch Audio, like from Dolby TrueHD with THX Ultra2+ Cinema in top of it (in my pre/pro), and back, or to any other audio mode (like to add the two surround back channels for example: EX), it shows each time the Dialog Normalization! ...It shouldn't as all my other Blu-rays don't! It is an encoding error.
{Paramount studios, and also Universal studios, and FOX too, are all funny studios with many encoding errors by the way. Some are just plain mistakes, and others are from paranoia!}

--> The coolest part is the THX demo (Amazing Life) at the beginning; simply awesome (but only in DD 5.1 surround though). It is the very best surround sound demo of them all, no doubt about it!

BONUS:

----- ;) :D

---By the way, do you know what's real bad with Blu-rays?

It's the manufacturers of Blu-ray players who stop supporting the 'firmware updating' of their Blu-ray players!
Samsung is among them, so is Panasonic. ...Just so as you know. :b

With Blu-rays it is ESSENTIAL that your Blu-ray player is continually updating its firmware,
because the codecs of Blu-ray movies do! And if your BD player don't, then you have to buy another one (BD player)!

See, this is the world we live in; buy buy buy and buy again! We are expendable products of our own consumption's downfall!

And with Blu-ray it was not meant to be this way! ...Firmware updates were part of the deal. ...But greed took precedence! ...And the deal wasn't respected!

So, not only we rebuy all the movies we love on the latest and best digital video medium (Blu-ray), and make the studios richer and richer and always richer, but also the Blu-ray player manufacturers!

And if one person here knows, it's certainly me! :b

Also, you guys/gals are probably awared of Blu-ray prices from movies that are new releases, right? Because, it is a fact that some of them (many actually) cost in the $30-40 price range! ...After taxes. Disney titles for example; and there are other studios too. ...Criterion is also very good like Disney in the quality of its products, but you do pay for that premium. ...And just forget it 'bout 3D! ...There too they are greedy again, and the product is not even par to it!

The American citizens are more lucky than us Canadians in that regard.
But even USA has it bad for some BD releases.

Downloading? The laws are different in Canada and in the USA.
And besides, Blu-ray medium is still the very BEST, Picture & Sound wise.

I'm just telling it like it is. :b

I'd be interested to know your opinion of this movie. I have a few Bogart movies and a few of the actors in this movie play roles in others with him (e.g., the doorman at Rick's Café Américain is a cruel officer of the Vichy regime in occupied Martinique in To Have and Have Not).

---So, what da ya wanna know exactly Mike? ...Casablanca?
This 70th Anniversary Edition on Blu is the Ultimate version to have.
A Must Own in any serious Cinema lover's movie collection.
It is the equivalent of the best remastered analog LP version, but from a moving picture.

And I can tell you that I must have a bunch of different versions from different formats and even few high def copies of that title.

And if you are a Bogart's fan; then just get them all! Well, you know, the usual suspects ...
And it should be the start of a long and durable friendship. Here's to you Mike! ;)
It is the equivalent of Miles Davis, or John Coltrane, or Sonny Rollins, or Thelonious Monk, or Bill Evans, or ....

Thanks, Bob! And if I never get the 70th Anniversary Edition on Blu, I'll always have Paris...I mean dvd...

---Paris is a beautiful city, always illuminated, and always romantic. :b
...Lots of history too, with poets and artists from all avenues. ...And the food, oh my!
...The wines! ...The French women! :b

* DVD? Only if the Blu ain't available; it is an inferior video format. :b
{This site 'here' is all 'bout the Best.} ;)

I think that you'd love Midnight in Paris, the Woody Allen film.

---By the way Mike, all my pictures from this thread you can click on. ...Including 'Casablanca'.

* Even better with repeated viewings. :b ...In my case anyway.

>>> Sound is Superb! ...DTS-HD MA 7.1 with very clear dialog and extremely potent LFE.
