* Did you watch a film last night (on Blu or DVD), and what was it? *

My wife bought this last night (a surprise as she usually does not buy Blu-rays):

My verdict: fairly boring and cliche story with a bit of update.
My wife: she liked it.

The only thing that clicked for me was the beautiful shots of a home/zoo, making you want to retire there. :) The little girl is also awfully cute. She has a good future in movies.

Good rental if you are watching with family/kids.

^ I liked Almost Famous is my feminine side showing!!

Ok Ron. :b

'Almost Famous' is his best film; for me as well.

* Before he started directing films, Cameron Crowe was a contributing editor (writer)
--for Rolling Stone magazine.

Inglorious Basterds - interesting. Wasn't expecting it to be as graphic as it was though. Thought Brad Pitt was pretty good in it.
Charlie Wilson's War - One of my favourite movies. Phillip Seymour Hoffman was terrific.

Knew that, as I remember reading him. Though, I admit, I may not have known his age at the time.

I thought it was a very fresh take and movie. Very enjoyable.

I did like it as well, at least in terms of the whole movie, but the "scalping" part got to me. I readily admit I do not like that kind of graphic imagery.

Last night ::

--> Directed by Martin Charles Scorsese (1988).
* That was a rewatch of course; and the timing was right for me.

- Ron, yes, Cameron Crowe is a relatively young fellow (born in 57).

- 'Inglourious Basterds' is a film acted with verve, humor, and built with the right momentum.
The war is represented in Tarantino's true spirit; his own vision.
And of course I'm a big fan of his and all his films are part of my Blu collection.
Quentin is big on narration, and that I luv. :b

* Directed by Mel Gibson (2004). ...Monica Bellucci, oui :b, starred in that film.
And Mel, well, is the famous actor/director ('Braveheart', 'Apocalypto', and others).

@ Tonight: 'War Horse' from Steven Spielberg. :b ...On Blu of course.

Watched one of our older but favorite DVDs, Funny Farm. This movie never gets old:

The DVD image was awful and 4:3 at that. Was tempted to get the Blu-ray but it is $12 (double feature though).

This is a really funny and well acted movie. I love this line when the driver gets lost and asks for directions:

No, I did not watch 'War Horse' on Blu-ray (not just yet, and not in the mood either).

But I did watch 'Titanic' on anamorphic DVD though. :b

And here's another link: http://www.squidoo.com/rms-titanic

And this last one: http://www.titanicuniverse.com/

It's all about the coal burning from the transfer from another ship even before the Titanic's departure that she was already doomed!

There was a coal strike back then ... And the owner of the Titanic knew about the burning coal (from the other ship's transfer in one of its bunkers), and he cancelled his trip; so other high society shots as well ...

The more we learn about the truth surrounding all there is on the Titanic, the more we discover that money and prestige and reputation is more important than human life!

...The last sentence from the post above: Unfortunately for the rulers, the leaders of this planet.
...If you know what I mean; so don't misinterpret the true meaning. ...Just in case. :b

* If you love horses, like I do, you'll luv this flick.
And if you are are just a bit the emotional type, you might feel your heart 'crunching' at times.
...And check for a teardrop or two around the corner of your eyes.

- Technically: Video (Picture quality) is great, and the Sound (Audio quality) is awesome.

This is not 'Transformers' or 'Iron Man' or 'Indiana Jones', but more like 'Indiana Jones' as a horse!

:b

* Directed by Roy Ward Baker (1958).
{Click on the picture cover for more ...}

** I am on a very big (Titanic) mood nowadays.

I even bought the last National Geographic's issue.
...A climb to K2's summit by the Austrian female Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner is also featured: breathlessly exhilarating!
QUOTE: "I felt as if I were one with the universe. I was so strange on one hand to be extremely exhausted and on the other to be getting so much energy from the view."

Last night (rewatched) :: Antichrist

-------^ Click on it!

* Directed by Lars von Trier (2009). ...Excellent photography (cinematography).
Great acting, and visceral (in storyline + photography style). ...And not for everyone.

Last night :: A great favorite of mine by a master cineaste

---

* Direxted by Federico Fellini (1963). ...And on Blu of course, like always (99.99%). :b
