* Did you watch a film last night (on Blu or DVD), and what was it? *

Last night::

---

* 'La Leggenda Del Pianista Sull'Oceano - The Legend of 1900' directed by Giuseppe Tornatore, music score by Ennio Morricone, and cinematography by Lajos Koltai, and uncut.

** Giuseppe Tornatore is also the director of 'Cinema Paradiso'.
And these two films are my favorites from him. I've watched 'Cinema Paradiso' few nights ago.
And I also watched 'The Leopard', directed by Luchino Visconti.
All of these on Blu-rays.

---------------------------

If I may ...

I just want to emphasize this:

'La Leggenda del Pianista sull'Oceano' and 'Cinema Paradiso',
both directed by Giuseppe Tornatore are must see Films!
One about Music, and the other about Cinema. And both directed by a true Master, an Artist.

Last night ::

* A big favorite of mine; directed by Federico Fellini (1973).

The post just above (post #306); I simply cannot emhasize it enough in its content (what I said).

Last night I watched this :: ...of course, I saw it before, like most older movies...

-----

=> Directed by Steven Soderbergh (2000).

* What I like 'bout it? ...The overall atmosphere, the realistic tension, the climax.
{I've been to Tijuana before, on the Mexican border, and I traveled through northen Mexico, and I've seen things with my own two eyes, but that's for another time in another space...}

Forty years ago and today nothing has changed! This is still the world we live in.
And nobody can or do anything 'bout it! Not even the US government & the Mexican government!

Do you know why? ....

And the Canadian government? Well, what they got to do with it?

_______________

*** Anyway, anyone else here's watching movies?

Bob, I have not heard of 8 out of 10 movies you watch. Do you know all of these movies or discover them some place?

And oh Charlie Chaplin. Used to watch it on my Dad's 8 mm *film* projector in 1960s and 1970s! Brings back memories. The moves kept getting shorter and shorter. Why? Cause we had to hand feed them into the machine and half the time it would chew them up and we had to cut the leader and feed again!

Amir, I studied Cinema History at college (grade 13 to 15).
And if you are into Cinema as I am, you know what's best out there. :b

* It is your fault (and I truly appreciate) that I am now revisiting those Must See films;
because since you asked me to give you my list of 20 'Must See' films,
I am giving it to you: one by one, & each single day, & upping the ante, till I hit 100.
...Just like I said before... ...90 more or even + to go ...
{But sometimes I'll be watching a new release; like 'War Horse', this weekend.}

Just reread my previous reply to you before, and you'll see that what I said is what I do.

=> It is with great delight that I am in that 'mode' now, and for the next four months or so.
So please stay tuned, and make the effort of watching some of these (the ones you have never seen); so that your Cinema knowledge expands for the better. :b

Also Amir, to ask me if I discovered them from some place, is asking for the truth mentioned just above. Furthermore, many DVDs I own from the Criterion editions; but since they started with their Blus, I upgraded several of them, plus purchased and still purchase the Cinema Masterpieces from the great Masters. And if you know a thing or two 'bout it, the Criterion Blu-rays are the very Best in all the senses. I own just over one hundred Criterion Blu-rays (movies, documentaries; music, etc.).

Charlie is a British classic legend (influenced by the French)! :b ...Among few others of course.
But Charlie goes way back (Cinema Muet).

Ah. Didn't know we had a cinema expert in our midst! Looking forward to your recommended list. Please create a new thread for it.

I mentioned before, here and on other sites, plus in my biography (at some places),
that I was also a projectionist, a Theater actor, a technical Light & Sound assistant
for a fairly important Theater in Quebec, and I worked for major International artists (stars).

My studies and early work where all about the ARTS (Music & Cinema).

Then I planted trees after and between (2 million+ of them).

My life is simple and humble; I used to be rich, but not so anymore.
Or perhaps even more, but in knowledge and wisdom.

My electronica gear is worth less than $50,000 (all my gear), including my musical instruments (or perhaps a little more); so very humble like I said.
But my Music and my Movies; I spent close to ten times more that amount.
That's a fair chunk for me (not material, but artistic).

I'm just like you; I'm here to learn and share. :b

Ah. Didn't know we had a cinema expert in our midst! Looking forward to your recommended list. Please create a new thread for it.

You asked me that not long ago, and I replied to you that I will do right here,
without starting a new thread.

And the reason is very simple Amir; WBF is too small yet,
and besides there aren't enough members posting right here in this already excellent thread.
So it is perfect! :b

Amir, don't forget here; we're talking 'bout 'Must See' films from my Blu-ray collection.
And for me it means 'Artistic' with real content (emotions and all that Jazz ...).
It is one thing to have a great Picture with best Sound;
but without the real impactful content, it means nothing!

So please don't be surprised if the aspect ratio is 4:3, the picture is black and white,
and there is no sound at all, in some of them (or just a slight music background).

I will even be more honest here:

I am very sensitive, and when some of my work is 'considered obsolete', my heart suffers deeply...
Because it is me, from my soul, who I truly am.

Last night :: Surprise surprise surprise ... Mouse Hunt

Ok, this is a DVD, it ain't a Blu-ray, but it is still a Must See film nonetheless.
{The Blu-ray is not out yet, and I decided to make a small exception here.}

And this film's content is big on emotional humor! :b ...good for the heart & soul.
Ask the people who saw it! But if you didn't see it, you simply must!

Furthermore, the Music is a huge integral part of the story, and it is excellent!

For the people who didn't see this flick;
please don't deprive yourself from this gem, a true joy of life. You'll thank me later ...

* Directed by Gore Verbinski, and starring Nathan Lane, Lee Evans & Christopher Walken.
- Music score (composed) by Alan Silvestri. ...You can click on the picture cover.

Was home alone last night. Went on my cable on demand and the first three programs I started I had to abort. They were all so called "comedies" but awful in execution.

So I finally pick a random movie called "Frozen." This is the cover:

Let me tell you, this is one awful movie. Amateur acting. Amateur story. Amateur special effects. Depressing story line. I don't know how it got 3+ stars on Amazon. Save your money and time and ignore this C- movie.

Last night ::

* Emotionally charged, and a look at redemption of the soul ... A Must See flick; click on it.
And yes, I have already seen it before. ...But was in the mood to revisit a great film.
