Just got the new Stereophile, Jan '14. The Vivaldi stack made the front cover.
Looks like Mikey did the review.
Have you heard it? Sorry if I should know this...just curious. I have heard it and a lot of other digital as well, but I have likely heard less digital in a truly controlled environment (like a sound studio) than you have.
I have not heard it in my system, only the Scarlatti. I have heard it in many others thought. Never failed to impress.
I always respected Scarlatti but could not love it. I have heard it sound amazing in a friends system...but I decided when I had a chance to trade for it, that it still love the Zanden. But the latest generation...Vivaldi, and I suspect Trinity, Light Harmonic...could well be ahead, particularly with hi-res.
I have been told that David Wilson is now using a DCS Vivaldi in his system. I did not like to know about it - for a longtime he owned my preferred CD player in an all ARC system, the CD8. But it seems DSD and HiRes PCM could finally move the CD8 away- it is regrettable that the CD9 does not have native DSD.
I think Dave used the Vivaldi at RMAF. Bruce would know.
Funny, many manufacturers used the Scarlatti at shows too; why escapes me.
Yes, the Wilson room at the Hyatt was using Vivaldi. From my perspective easily the best sound of the show.
The Alexia/VTL room also had the Vivaldi stack but when I was there they were playing vinyl; why escapes me.
Vivaldi is on display at the swedish audio store Audio Concept in Stockholm. To many unknown parameters for me, so I can´t give any conclusions about the sound specifically from Vivaldi, but overall it was stunning.

Another great article on the DCS Vivaldi system. Curiously the system used comes from the "alternative" school of thinking - a great source, "small" amplifier and speakers : the DCS Vivaldi, Ancient Audio tube monoblock amplifiers and the old Sonus Faber Amator I .
